Australian Women's Vice Captain Rachael Haynes has announced her retirement from International and State Cricket.

Rachael Haynes retires from international and state cricket

She will finish her Professional career with the Sydney Thunder in this seasons WBBL.

Congrats Rachael on a great career.

The next Australian international isn't until January, so if Lanning hasn't returned by then it will be interesting to see who leads Australia.

Healy would probably be favourite, perhaps Perry or Mooney.

I presume the "perhaps Perry" refers to test matches and ODIs only. Because the selectors (and I) don't think she is part of the best XI for T20s.

I agree that Healy is probably the frontrunner. But then if they are looking for someone to be the vice-captain across all three formats, then Mooney would probably be ahead of Perry.

Separate to the captaincy issue, I hope this gives a chance for someone like Redmayne to be selected. The last few years the selectors seem to have had a strong preference for those players who can both bat and bowl, rather than specialist batters.

Alyssa Healy has taken over from Haynes as Australia's Vice Captain, should guarantee she stays in the team until she retires which will make LP happy.
