After watching Bevan get hit in the head by a full beer can I hope that the MCC will ban any Pakistan team from playing in England for 5 years. England has a huge Pakistani community too many of which can't control themselves at cricket matches. The latest incident is just the last of an appalling run of unacceptable behaviour at games.

ps Thompson is not only a crap commentator but his joke at the time was inapropriate to say the least.

Brayshaw: Why would anyone throw a fuill can of beer at the Australian team.

Thompson: Probably because it was warm

There but for the grace of god go I.........

The vast majority of Pakistani fans are OK. I sat near heaps of them in the WC 99 game at Headingly. No big dramas.
The problem fans are exactly the same type of d!ckheads who get dragged out by the cops in Oz. Aggressive loud young blokes who think they re ten foot tall when surrounded by their mates. I'm sure you know the type. They also believe their rapier like wits should be on showat max volume all day. Its a bit rich parting with £35 for a ticket and then put up with a constant stream of bollox all day!

Once the poms get their act together re the removal of people acting like total w***ers from cricket grounds, the problem will be solved (as much as it can be at any rate). Once these tossers find out a day acting like a total deadsh!t will relieve them of a few quid, a day at the game may not seem so attractive.

Unfortunately the authorities ban the flags etc which result in the game being dull. At cricket games in UK, I sometimes think you are expected to sit quietly and mutter approval or dissent into a Gin and Tonic or Pimms and Lemonade.

thompson doubles up on sky here. He is better than Ian Botham, great player, crap commentator, although I agree with him on his crowd behaviour call and he is the only one here (or at least the first) who put the problem squarely in the Pakistani camp. The rest were too scared of being called racists!

No Dees01, People wonder why there is racism in this world!

Some Aussies need to do a bit of research into our history before we go throwing stones.

Under todays recognised meaning of racism (ie 'related to race') everyone is a racist. Discrimination means choice. It is an ability to shoose and ultimately decide. When we see a problem repeated with brown coloured guys wearing Pakistani cricket tops involved it would be unnatural not to decide that people looking like that may well mean trouble. It is also quite natuaral when a car is stolen in WA and used for a joyride to have 'aboriginal youth' in your mind as they are responsible for 80%+ of incidents. It is also quite natural when thinking of the best male sprinters in the world to think of negroes.

But what is natural to think is not, in today's world, allowed to be spoken. Well at least Botham had the honesty to speak his mind which is more than most.

Anyone calling another person a racist or accusing them of racism needs to ask themselves whether they understand what they are saying and if so whether voicing the natural descriminants in ones mind of color, size, features, adornment, commonality etc is something that should be stymied for the sake of societies current fad. Or is open honesty not preferable?

what a schocking incident.

As you said, i hope the MCC ban Pakistan from playing for 5 years.

And i hope Australia doesn't tour Pakistan for at least 10 years. I have a son who is 16, and if he eventually went on to play for Australia and tour to Pakistan, i would be totally horified if i saw what was going on.

Isn't that what Thommo did?

He sure did DIPPER,, to quote Thommo from a "Cricketer" magazine from 1974.after he struck a batsman in the head bowling for Bankstown.......The sound of the ball cracking his skull was music to my ears. And to think the Bankstown club had Lenny Pascoe bowling at the other end bowling......
No respite I must say

LOL smithy-no respite indeed!

I've got a couple of Thommo quotes that I've picked up along the way

'My favourite 2 colours are green & red, the batsman's blood on the pitch after I've hit him'

'Let's see how stiff those Pommie batsman's lips are aftre they've been split'

Good old Thommo!

Thumb's up for Thommo from me....

I've really enjoyed Thommo's commentating. He's always quite entertaining. Channel Nine (apart from RB) have become a bit stale. David Gower is one of the best commentators going around at the moment....I hadn't heard him much until the one-day series and I thought a lot of what he said gave a really good insight into the game of cricket.

I may be repeating an urban myth, but I believe Thommo and Lenny Pascoe opened the bowling for their school team!

Now that would have been interesting!
