I genuinely have no idea what has just happened when he is commentating. Spends a lot of time saying "what's happened there?"
Isn't that a sign of something worse? (Trust me, I am now questioning family members along these lines and scared shitless)

He's 70 and had a stroke a few years ago.

I think his role is like that of Alf in Home and Away - a bridge between the old and new, and the final reminder of when ABC commentary was all we had.

Blackwell on ABC radio is very ordinary. Like listening to a 12 year old. Standards have really slipped.

Listening to it in the car on the way home from work yesterday and this tests line up is exceptionally weak.

Who's the other main commentator on SEN apart from Huddo and Whateley?

He calls the game like it's a funeral. Boundaries and good balls and wickets, he still commentates in the most deadpan bored voice ever.

Robin Chipperfield is great, and Jim Maxwell is doing better than a few years ago. Also enjoying Alison Mitchell, Nannes and Stuart Clark. Shame Whateley has gone (and gone commercial to boot), but the ABBC group is still doing a good job.
