Isa Guha is unreal and I always love JB commentary even though most don't. Howie is alright too for ball by ball.

Not sure why they got Mick Molloy though. I don't mind Mick, but with O'Keefe and JB they already have enough comedy value in the box. Lee/Haddin I don't have an opinion on either way while Slater is bad, but not as bad as when he's on channel 9.

They'll get better.

I know this is tantamount to sacrilege - but to me the last couple of years haven't been as kind to Maxwell.

Maybe he's just more honest than he used to be, but he seems a lot more dismissive of visiting sides than he used to be and a bit less knowledgeable.

Not to me it isn't. I've said before that he (Maxwell) has been the weakest link on the ABC for a few years now. I haven't missed him this summer, not even for an instant.

And I was very dubious as to how Whateley would pan out; but he's been very good.

Whately is incredibly knowledgeable about whatever he puts his voice to. he's accurate and insightful. I love him. and he's a cats fan :)

Triple M isn't really trying to be balanced nor should it

Although Mick Molloy is just like having a drunk who knows nothing about the game calling it at the pub

It amazes me how so many prehistoric dinosaurs are able to operate computers or phones to post on BF.

This prevailing opinion that women are "annoying" or not enjoyable to listen to is complete bullshit. Allison Mitchell's commentary was the best I've heard across ABC or Triple M this summer. Lisa Sthalaker had probably done more research than any other expert commentator I've ever heard before the ODIs.

I've listened to Triple M in the car because tram lines wreak havoc with the AM band in my car, but it tries too hard to be different and funny. It is absolutely not funny.

So listening at home with the tv sound turned down it will probably always be the ABC for me (on the digital radio you're only putting up with a pretty small delay.) Neither of the others have given me any sort of a reason to endure the ads that I don't have to listen to on Grandstand.

Digital radio is great, combined with pause TV you can bring the picture and commentary into line really easily.

Even when I can't get signal on my radio, I just run the digital feed through my phone via the CA app, then cast via Bluetooth to my stereo.

Interestingly, I was at the first 2 days of the test, and really enjoyed listening to the Ms while sitting there live. But it was only in the car in the way home from the airport that I noticed, as others have mentioned, that they perhaps try to hard to be funny and have not been actually describing the game that well. I think that if I had the tv coverage available I would listen to triple m, but I think I'd be leaning towards the ABC for just listening.

I wanted to put this somewhere, and since it was told on radio....

Darren Berry told this story today on SEN:

I think it was 2002. Berry was at the MCG during an ODI, hosting a corporate function. He was a little nervous, because he was new to the caper, so he had a couple of beers. After his short spot of stage, he had a couple more beers, then had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.

Not long after, Shane Warne dislocated his shoulder on the field and went off, so Berry went to the rooms to see how his Vic buddy was. The 12th man obviously went out to field, and there was no one around to take out the drinks, so Berry was asked to suit up to run out the Gatorade.

Before he had a chance to do so, Brett Lee had to come off for a few minutes, so Chuckles Berry had to go out to field, but there was a small problem: he was half-pissed. :D He decided not to tell anyone, because he wanted to get on the field for Australia.

When he got out there, Ricky Ponting asked him: "You're a keeper; where should you field?
Berry replied: "I dunno, I'm pissed"

He was only on the field for one over and didn't touch the ball.

Ha :p

That Triple M list of commentators doesn't appeal to me at all, least of all Kerry O'Keefe who is well past his use by. To be fair to Isa Guha I don't think I've heard her before so not sure whether I would like her or not.

Have listened to 3AW a few times just for a change and they are OK, mainly stick with the ABC though. The only person I don't like on the ABC is Lisa Sthalekar who gives me the pip.

Ha ha, great story. How did I miss this? I've been listening to all the segments about his career.

I think you find that most do. Just the people who don't like him are the loud minority.

That's a beauty!

I enjoy Berry on SEN, wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on one of the cricket stations eventually

Does any radio station do the BBL?

Macquarie would be my best guess - I remember listening to 3AW while I was a game last year. Not entirely sure about this season though.
