Of course I don't dispute that.

But you can't take that fact and then extrapolate it to claim that he was "the better player" as you've done here ad nauseum. As people have tried to get through to you - also ad nauseum, and seemingly with little to no success - is that the better player was Federer, the winner, the guy who didn't (dare I say it because of the barrage of whinging that it'll no doubt provoke) choke.

he was unfortunate to lose the 1st set.He was playing better than federer. I am not whinging, watch the replay, federers serve kept him in it, he was basically getting outclassed everywhere else

You are whinging.

The end result is the only thing that matters. The only difference was Nadal's inability to close the game, not to mention Federer's brilliant serving and some of his passing shots in the final set when the heat was on.

At the end though, Federer won 3 sets and hence won the game. That's all that matters. So stop sooking, get over it and appreciate Federer's record equaling win for what it is, not rather for what might have been.

No one cares about how many more winners or baseline rallies he won - people will be looking at the final result, and that trumps everything here. Maybe Nadal's time will come next year, but until then, stew in the juices of defeat.

I care about both.

I thought it was a very good match. However, the result will always end up to be the most important towards the player no matter how many times you say otherwise.

And at the end of the day, people will remember the result more than actually how it happened. The history books will be the same.

yep agree, i was dissappointed that rafa lost , however as a nadal fan i couldnt be happier. Next time fed takes on rafa on grass it will be a 50-50 match

He was just a bit scared to lose to the Fed again;)

What we should be talking about now is who is Federer's biggest rival, Nadal or Djokovic.

I would say Djokovic as he can play on all surfaces:p

Nadal on grass. Djoko on other surfaces. Djoko would have won the semi at Wimbledon had injury not come into the equation and he has more all round game than Nadal. Indeed he is going to be a huge threat to Federer never mind Nadal.

I predicted on here after Wimbledon that such was Djoko's development that Nadal would do will to beat him again off the clay.

The match could have gone either way.I am guessing you didnt watch the match but 75% first serves with 20 aces saved his ass on break points so many times. He was playing his best tennis while rafa was not.Rafa had his chances and in a grandlslam he will slaughter him.Just one small match doesnt make a season, djoko was extremely lucky that he was serving well today but rafa had 25 unforced errors today and he was clearly not playing best tennis.Federer will wipe the court with djokos arse in the finals, mark my words

Funny how the claycourt bully is the only one capable of beating federer on any surface at the moment, some of you people need to get an idea about tennis first

2 points TP

1. A Masters series semi final between world No.2 and no.3 is far from being a small match.

2. When was the last tiem Rafa beat fed off the clay? Canas has beaten Roger as often this year as Nadal has beten him off the clay.

I do accept nadal is his biggest handful but don't discount Djokovic. He really should have won the Wimbledon semi as I'm sure even you will agree and he did win at Montreal. he is a huge challenge for Rafa and Roger has had it difficult enough against him as well. He is the real deal and is a threat to No.1 in the long term. The Big 2 is now a Big 3 and that is good for the game.

1. Rafa is capable of pushing federer all the way on his worst surface and federers best surface.

2. When was the last time Fed played rafa in a hardcourt grand slam ?

Should have, could have ,would have has no place in tennis. Its not rafas fault if his body was not capable of taking it.Plus i am not so sure novak would have beaten him on grass.

I am happy novak won this tournament, now the difference between roger and rafa is only 1650 points with federer defending another 2500 points this season and rafa only 250:thumbsu:
