Mooster has informed me that it is Raider Hater week.

I would just like to go on record that while I'm currently enjoying Bomber Hater Fortnight, I am still finding time to hate Oakland as well.

As a conservative I find it important to respect tradition - and hating the Raiders is a worthwhile tradition indeed.

With Carlton and Port also in the AFL finals I am finding this quite taxing, to the point where might have to hate Port a little less to fit it all in.

So much hate ... so little time ... :(

CHIEFS CHIEFS CHIEFS

Sorry TT, but I would normally agree with you about hating the Raiders as they are one of my least favourite team. But since they now have the great Jerry Rice playing for them, I refuse to hate any team that the great Jerry Rice represents.

Infact I follow a different AFC team every year and this year it could be the Raiders. GO RAIDERS.

Also TT, You must have total commitment to hating Port. No slacking off. How is Port going to continue to be successful without people like you hating us. :)

Then you'd love my Chicago Cubs and the 'friendly confines of beautiful Wrigley Field'! Where else can you go to a major sporting event and not see advertising polluting the walls? Just lovely ivy adorning the back wall and red brick walls on either side of the field.

Heck, we didn't even get lights until 1988! Old man Wrigley believed that baseball should be played in the daytime so men could escape from work and school kids could 'play hooky'! No waterfalls, no hot tubs, no exploding scoreboards at Wrigley!

I'm going next week if ya have the time and ya want to come, too! I'll book an extra $10 seat for ya, TT! :D

Chicago1, If I ever came to Chicago Wrigley Field would be one of the 1st places I would go to. You say these is no advertising polluting the walls but I have one queston isn't there a house you can see from inside the staduim that has huge Budweiser sign painted on it's roof?.

I'm sure I have seen it on TV and I also remember a friend who has been there telling me about it.

There sure is, carb! Nuffin Wrigley can do about it!

I went to Wrigley last year for the first time and loved it's old fashioned baseball feeling. It was almost as if I were back at home at the Whitten Oval before you upstart teams ruined our footy! ;) :D

If you do go, make sure you have a traditional Chicago hot dog. And don't get the cheap ones there.... get the kosher jumbo ones with relish, onions and mustard. And NEVER put ketchup on a hot dog in Chicago! You'll get your backside kicked out of town! My brothers and I have told my dad that when he dies we're going to put a hot dog with ketchup in his coffin so he'll be tormented for eternity...... that'll get him back for making us mow the lawn, shovel the snow, etc. when we were kids! ;) :D

I've heard from two different people that the hot dogs at Wrigley were the worst they had ever had. Must have been the cheapies :)

I've actually been there twice (both several years ago) to see my Cardinals play the Cubs. The first time was in April and it was about 45 degrees and rainy, but it was fun anyway. The second time was in June and the weather was perfect. And the Cardinals won both times. I have to admit that I do enjoy Wrigley very much despite being a Cardinal fan.

BTW, what's wrong with ketchup? Ketchup is the condiment of champions :)

Raiders & Wrigley

Yup, it's Raider Hater Week. TT, I would suggest backing a bit off of Bomber Hater Fortnight to make room. Let me quote the AFL sage:

"Everyone hates Essendon, but that is only because they are winning at the moment. They are Johnny-come-lately's and once they start losing, no one will give a ***** about them. Sure, we hate them, but we don't give them the satisfaction of real hatred."

Wise words. If you heed them, you will find the space to fit in your other distastes. :)

To the Essendon guy from Green Bay: What the hell happened to you? I have family in Wis, GB is a fanatically loyal football town. The Pack are my secondary (NFC) team. The "Left hand by the Lake" is not a republic of bandwagon jumpers.

Wrigley is indeed a beautiful field. Tradition? The Cubs traditionally lose. They have been breaking with that recently and everyone from Chi-town should be ashamed of themselves for enjoying winning seasons. Actually the three greatest things in Chicago are:

1. St. Patty's Day.
2. The German U-Boat at the Museum of Natural History
3. The Lava Lamp factory (yeah, they are made in Chicago).

Peace all. Go Tigers - Chiefs

It's disappointing to see all that hatred towards the Raiders didn't stop them from beating Kansas City 27-24. It looks like Rich Gannon and his 2 receivers in Brown and Rice all had good games.

Mooster, how did Trent Green play?. I saw the Baltimore game and Elvis Grbac played a very good game. Which QB would you prefer at the Cheifs Green or Grbac?. I also see Snoop Minnis caught a TD pass in his 1st game, do you think he could be in for a big year?. It also looks like the Cheifs running game is still struggling. Anyway you should win next week against Seattle.

Yup, it hurts having those cretin Raiders win in our own stadium. Nevermind that it is also an AFC West loss.

Neither team could get a running game going. Snoop had that incredible TD pass. I don't know how he will go for the rest of the year. Last year Cat Morris was strong early, but faded a bit toward the end. I'm looking forward to getting him back too (knee injury).

I would be happy with either Trent Green or Elvis Grbac. That is a minority opinion in KC (so propbably correct). The dumbest move KC has made in recent years was giving Rich Gannon to Oakland. That goes without saying.

On the bright side, we didn't get our azzes handed to us. We were actually ahead through most of the game. Before the season began I was privately complaining to Tiger Tank that Tod Peterson slacked a bit last year as kicker and that our kicking teams have cost us games. In the Raider game, Peterson missed a (relatively) easy 37 yard Field Goal. After the Green/Snoop TD, the score was tied (because of Peterson's miss). The kicking team allowed the Raiders to return the ball to midfield! One play later and they were in FG range. They booted and got ahead of us by 3 points with only 18 seconds remaining in the game. Painful.

Peace

mooster- how is LB Donny Edwards looking ??? Never hear much about him in general NFL news but always racks up good numbers (well for my FF team anyway- he scored more than f*cking Joe Horn did).

(I notice also that my Jets still appear to suck, giving up 40 odd points on opening day- dont think the constant savaging by the NY media helps either)

flipping media scum.

Mooster, I have just seen highlights of the game and that TD catch by Snoop was brilliant. The Cheifs look like they will be strong at the WR position for the next few seasons at least. Especially when Morris does come back from his knee injury.

Also I saw that last field goal Janikowski and I don't know if it was the TV angle but it looked like he missed it. Anyway it was still a good performance by the Cheifs to push to Raiders right to the end.

As far as the passing game goes the Cheifs, Raiders and Broncos are probably all equal but the other 2 have an edge over the Cheifs because they both have strong running games. What would be stopping the Cheifs from trying to get someone like Mike Anderson or why didn't they try to get someone like Charlie Garner in the off season.

Arch, you are a bit hard on Joe Horn, that was his 1st game of the season. He missed the pre season games because of injury, but don't worry because he will have a huge season. The Saints look awesome this year.

If anyone should be complaining it should be me, I have Marvin Harrison in one of my fantasy teams and being the number 1 WR in a team that scored 45 points, he managed to score me 3 points. I considering trading him. ;) :)
