ive being wondering the same thing pyemachine. i hope so, if rance gets game time raines can stay in my side.

Houlihan, Hurley or Cheney.

Leaning towards Houlihan as I am already playing Collier who had a poor first week and may not be as cemented in the Lions' 22 as I expected.

i have the money to upgrade Raines to Gilbert or Houlihan, but am considering getting Petterd or Cheney or Hurley.

Your thoughts?

I already have Hill starting and my back bench is Rance and Broughton?

Someone like King will get a run with Raines out. Rance is a KPP and won't be brought in for a small back flanker-eqsue player.

Looking at the poll currently 30% are keeping raines.
Ask yourself this question. "What did I have Raines in my side for?"
Me personally, to make cash robbo. If he can't do that there is no point keeping him. If anything I am glad this has happened now, and not after the 1st price change, so next week I can pick the rookie that will give me the most cash

I've basically decided on keeping Raines this week and then deciding at the end of round 2 who's scored more out of Hurley or Cheney. Petrenko can slot onto the field and hopefully Broughton plays so I have an active emergency.

Tiger Raines undergoes surgery By Ben Broad 2:24 PM Mon 30 March, 2009

RICHMOND hopes Andrew Raines will be back playing football in a month despite the defender requiring surgery to the knee he injured in the Tigers’ round one loss to Carlton.

Raines tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee – the same knee he dislocated in 2008 – last Thursday night just minutes after prized recruit Ben Cousins had limped from the field with a hamstring injury.

Tigers football manager Ross Monaghan said both men were likely to be sidelined for about a month although it was still early days with Raines.

“He had surgery Friday afternoon,” Monaghan said.

“It’s anticipated at this stage that it’s probably four weeks before he’s back playing again.

“He’s come out of surgery pretty well … it’s always difficult to predict and it’s only a few days after surgery.

“It’s got to settle down and [we’ll] see how things pan out but the anticipation from the surgeons is three to four weeks.

“But that can vary a bit, depending on a whole range of factors.”

Monaghan said one thing in the 23-year-old’s favour was the fact that while on the same leg, his latest setback was unrelated to his other injury.

Cousins, who suffered a grade one hamstring strain, is also set to miss up to a month.

Richmond’s only other main injury concern surrounds former skipper Kane Johnson.

He is still facing several weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

This weekend the Tigers travel down the Princes Highway to Geelong to take on the Cats.

i'm not gonna bother with hurley, he will either fist the ball out of bounds or get beaten. at least cheney's role will bring the ball to him. better cash cow imo

I got rid of Masten in the midfield, brought Rich off my bench, and added Beams to my bench (reckon he will debut this week against the Dees)

With the extra cap room I traded Raines for Birchall

Disagree. Hurley is a legitimate rebounding option for Essendon, is a beautiful user of the football. Will have a seriously high kicking efficiency.

Trading as I kept $280k in cash, however my reserves are Dawson & Suckling who wont be consistent. In any case the injury will hamper him fitness-wise & I'd rather play someone fully fit.

I have Petenko on the bench along with Broughton so I'm hoping Broughton gets "brought in" to the freo lineup. Ba boomsh! :D That way I may not have to trade out Raines.

Cheney does look great though and would love to have him.

If I was to trade I would do this -

Raines ----> Cheney

Anthony --> Rich/Dangerfield

NB. I didn't originally pick Rich due to money constraints and went Otten instead as my 6th midfielder. Think I might regret not having Rich though.
I actually laughed when I read that.

Will be trading raines out after round 2 for the backline player (sub 300k) who's value will likely increase the most after round 3 (looks like cheany at this early stage). I picked up raines purely as a cash cow investment, so it's $$$ i'll be getting for him!

I don't understand why you would do this on Monday. I'm not saying Beams won't play, it's just that you will have a clearer indication by Friday when teams are named.

Rumors going around that Beams is out for the season, just heard it on SEN. :D

Doing trades on monday is CRAZY. I always do my trades last minute before fridays game. A late withdrawal can be the difference between a win and a loss

Surely a rookie is the way to go (unless you're already loaded with them in your starting backline) Grimes was good value in the nab cup, I'd say Hurley / Cheney is the way to go and any one not smart enough to spend the bucks on Gazza will appreciate the extra $
