It was hillarious. It was Kevin Bartlett's show and he had Terry Wallace and Martin Blake in with him. They were discussing Gold Coast, and Martin Blake said they were "a nothing team - nobody hates them and nobody likes them". Then KB put the call out for Suns fans to defend themselves. I inmediately thought of Lynton and how often he sticks up for them on this board.

Ten mins later... "lets take some calls, Lynton from [dunno where], you want to talk about the Suns?" Cue Lynton sticking up for his team and telling Blake to back off.

Pure gold.

If we make finals I'm going to ring Em up the Monday after we have secured a finals berth

Grandsun What did you say to SEN?

Also did BLK end up replying to your email back in December about them going into crisis?
Ok these r the exact words...

I'm I proud Gold Coast member and I'm sick and tired of people bagging us and calling us a NOTHING CLUB.
We will improve.. people just need to have patience. I really hope Rodney Eade keeps his job. He is a great guy.

What I was going to say but didn't have time too was this.

Our co captain, signed a new contract last week. It shows he can see success on the coast in the near future

What did Em say?

My name is Sam and I am part of the Marketing team at XBlades, this email has a bit in it so hopefully you have time to read it!

Thanks for the email glad you got in touch with us. Fans of our clubs are the best resource for us finding out about what products you enjoy or would like to see and you are ultimately who we want to leave happy at the end of the day!

Glad to hear you have liked the design of the Gold Coast guernseys so far.

We can understand the frustration at not being able to purchase special guernseys, especially if the more expensive auction ones won’t fit! I have already passed the feedback to the management team so that they know what is going on.

Hopefully I can provide some information as to why we didn’t end up retailing these items.

The reasoning behind not being able to retail the jumpers come from three main areas:
• Folding of BLK
• Club preference
• Demand

Folding of BLK;
BLK was the official apparel provider until they went bankrupt late last year, we stepped in to help out GCS as well as GWS and St Kilda (BLK's other clubs were also helped by other companies). The folding of BLK happened so late that we stepped in at the very last minute to produce an entire seasons range in half the time. As such the whole range was later to market and we had to reduce the amount that we would produce to get it out in time. Unfortunately items like the indigenous guernsey were therefore not retailed. Being onboard for 2018 it means we already way ahead for next year and will have more opportunities to bring extra items in next year.

Club preference;
As an apparel provider we design and manufacture the items that the clubs requestt, anything they do not wish to retail we must do the same. This will generally relate to one-off items as the club may not see a large market for those items or they might think the items will clash with their current range. For the GAZ300 the club did not want to end up retailing it (this is likely based on demand, pricing and wanting to keep it exclusive, however I was not personally involved in these discussions so this is speculation!)

Demand;
2017 was the first year we sold our product direct to public, as such we are still learning the volume we can sell through our online store. Previous to this we sold all our products through retailers and the clubs, so we are heavily reliant on their opinion in determining the demand of the market. When considering the GAZ300 guernsey, after heavy consultation with our partners it was established there would not be enough demand for the product for us to be confident that manufacturing the item would be worthwhile. For GAZ300 it was also complicated by the short turnaround from concept to design to manufacturing where the product was not ready to be shown to the market and a demand judged.

Hopefully in 2018 with our update online store, more time to work on the range (We also have more say in the design this year!) and a better relationship with our clubs, we will be able to bring more of these items to you and your fellow supporters.

If you do have any more questions feel free to email me back and I will do my best to answer them for you.

Kind Regards,

Sam Hayes

Sam seems very happy and helpful. Although I didn't need the full email I reckon thats a top response from him. Xblades seems like a half decent manufacturer with a good future ahead, can see more clubs heading that way. Hopefully when he says about having more of a say in the design, i'm praying this means changing the Suns home strip ;)

I was very impressed that he took his time to give me an answer... something i cant say about BLK!

What did Em say?

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

His palms are spaghetti, knees weak, arms spaghetti
There's vomit on his spaghetti already
Mom's spaghetti

By the end of the year I hope to be running an additional quick fire comp other than twenty20 Australia.

A few ideas
League World Cup (seeing that the rlwc is in 2017)
Pacific Netball League
South American Aussie Rules League
Return of Aussie Rules World Cup
AFL X League
Global Cricket League- quicker format than t20a but to include countries

Any other ideas?

Half of those don't sound like 'quick fire' comps to me, and let's not forget that you did have issues organising t20a last year, I'd probably focus on just one comp for now.
