Don't mean to derail any conversations, but I just wanted to post this.
Jarryd Hayne and his 49er teammates. He has his work cut out for him. He'll have guys that size on every team, running full speed, head down, hitting him with an additional 30 lbs of gear on every play.
On the other side of the coin, I read some postings by Americans who play/watch footy and were making comments about how easy the sport must be just because Holmes kicked a goal in pre-season. Shae did the same thing in a Pies pre-season match and never played with the seniors again. I'm sure we'll have a USA born ruckman someday, but it's going to take a series of injuries to the Saints or Pies for Holmes or Mason Cox to get into a game that counts. Otherwise, it could take years for that learning curve to kick in (pun intended) over here.
I am kind of shocked by the naïveté of people who think athletes can easily jump codes. There are so many subtle aspects to learn for a noob that people who grow up playing up a particular sport have ingrained through years of practice. Neither sport is
easy, especially at that level.
