Does anyone know why it appears on the PI guernseys only? I'm guessing it's due to the fact Adidas themselves don't make our PI's.

I would think it relates to the sewing machines they use distressing the material.
One thing to remember is that these are made by the same company that are accused of "cheap Chinese knock-offs" when they make something other than adidas or Star.
