Why do threads have to get locked after 1000 replies? Whilst there's obviously a logical reason I've never understood why

Server load, slows the whole site down.

Genuine question. Prefer the older brigade to answer, not the sea world loving fan children.

Queensland. My experience has been only to gold coast.
Can someone share if it's worth living up north like cairns, townsville, rockhapton etc and explain lifestyle, weather housing etc.

Just want opinions.

On the tropics (particularly Townsville), the best description is hot and humid, and with the yearly threat of cyclones, it isn't somewhere I would want to live (though I do have family up there). Add to that that if any thing happens just south of those places (e.g. floods) the towns are cut off from everywhere.

When I was up there earlier this year the stores were starting to run out of food as the trucks were unable to get up there due to the floods (even places like McDonalds were running out of supplies). They did get lucky as just before the issue became a major problem the deliveries did start to come through, though it apparently took about a week to get back to some form of normality, but then, just after that they were hit by the cyclone. Not a good period of time.

Houses vary up there from Queenslanders to regular houses, with the only real difference being the bathrooms which also act cyclone shelters (in some houses not all, main difference is small or no windows and heavy doors) Air conditioners are basically mandatory (and used year round) as without them the heat can become unbearable.

But this is coming from a Sydneysider through and through, who loves cooler climates.

Sorry to stray off the immediate topic. Craegus, have you always lived in Sydney? If so, why and how did you get into footy? Why not League or Union?

Kind of, did live up near Lake Macquarie for a couple of years when I was young (between about 2-4) but apart from that I have been a Sydneysider.

I am more of a League fan than AFL (Wests Tigers, previously Western Suburbs and at first Newcastle - due to living up near there and them starting at the same time). But I have always had a passion for sport, no matter what sport and as such I began to follow the AFL in the 90's, along with just about every other sport on the planet over the years that have followed.

This version of Random Chat should've been called 'Random Chat: The Premiership Quarter". I swear every single third quarter I've played has been riddled with "come on boys, this is the Premiership quarter!". It'd be fitting.

Secondly, add me on PSN. I play FIFA 12 exclusively. I missed two sitters against Gibbsy last night. I also came back from 5-1 down to get three goals in about a minute. What can I say? I'm the Fremantle Dockers of FIFA.

My PSN is FordzyAFC

Finally, what's a good sports game? I need something else to do over the holidays. I've enjoyed the NHL 12 demo. Is it hard learning the rules? If Margaret and David did computer games, how many stars would they give it?

So you don't win any championships?

;)

I love NBA 2K12, probably one of the best sport games I've played and I definitely recommend it (just depends if you like Basketball).

I have NBA Live 2010 (EA) and that's pretty good :) Picked it up from cashies for $20 or something :) AFL LIve isn't terrible either but still very overpriced, considering how old it now is and is no longer footy season

2K11 is better gameplay wise from what I've heard. I'm yet to pick up 2K12 because I was holding off due to lockout, but now I'm thinking it might not even be worth it. The only real incentive is the NBA's Greatest mode.

The only difference that I've noticed about the two games gameplay wise is that it isn't as easy to dominate a game (in MyPlayer anyway).

Apparently speed has no bearing at all. Watch Chris Smoove's latest video.

I've got AFL Live. It really needs a Dynasty Mode. But I'm sure that's soon to come.

I'm going to download the NBA 2k12 demo tonight. We'll see how into it I am. I wouldn't mind the idea of a basketball game, to be fair.

Also, what was the deal with NBA Elite? Was it a continuation of NBA Live, yet renamed? And the cancellation was a combination of the lockout, and poor quality, yes?

NBA 2K12 is amazing especially the online association because I can play my mates in an assiociation online and make trades with them also The Greatest Mode is awesome and My Player is greatly improved I recomend anyone to get the game

I think it was basically a rebrand of EA's NBA live, not sure why it was cancelled though.

Ea Sports was always an inferior to 2K since about 05. In 2009 they produced a really solid game in NBA Live 10 yet it lacked the polish of NBA 2k10. The next year they rebranded it NBA ELITE 11 and tried to make the game more atractive by adding NBA Jam with it. Yet when the demo releases and it got terrible reviews and had huge glitches such as the Half Court Sky Hook Three glitch and the Andrew Bynum Jesus Glitch (Search youtube for these their preety funny) EA delayed the release date until March 2011 saying they needed to fix the game to improve the overall basketball experience. Early this year they cancelled NBA ELITE 11 and said they would not be releasing a new game until 2012. This year EA focused on making NBA JAM better and released NBA JAM: On Fire Edition which is an awesome game and I recommend to buy it. The best thing about it is it only cost $15 off PSN too

Played NBA Live 10 and NBA 2k11 and both are pretty much the same, controls and all imo. My mate who has 2k11 (I have NBA Live) thinks the same :) Both good games though.
Otherwise if you like cricket, Ashes 09 is really good and cheap too. Didn't see it for over $20 brand new yesterday when I went out. There's also International Cricket 2010 but that's a bit more expensive. Actually managed to get that new for $20 yesterday but I'm not getting it until Christmas

I've played both Ashes 09 and IC2010. Both are good games, but they get boring fairly quickly because there isn't much to do besides completing the challenges and winning the tournaments.

Much difference between the two?
The trouble with cricket games is the nature of the sport. It's hard to convert what is played over 5 days into an hour or so gaming session. I just enjoy cricket and footy games so much because they are the two sports I can relate to most, even if they aren't always of the highest standard. The difference I find between AFL or NBA for example and cricket is that you can only sit down and play the former for a couple of hours max (2 or 3 games) but like actual test cricket its possible to sit down for hours on end (1 or 2 games). Admittedly the cricket games are far more boring by yourself and are much better with mates but then again I guess all sports games are

Yeah, that's fair enough.

There isn't much difference between the two games, just slightly better graphics, updated uniforms, etc.
