Hey guys, as you know I'm planning to bring back AJL (if everyone's for it?) and am looking at posting the first round hopefully tomorrow before the game.

I'm in a bit of a pickle as to which jumpers to use. Should I use (LC's-complete with sponsor logos) or Mero's? If I can get permission from them prior to it of course.

Normally I would choose LC's for sure, because personally I think sponsor logos can have a big riding on my opinion of the jumper. But our friend E92_ brought up a good point to me,that the shorts can be a issue when running this comp, whether a team would wear home or away shorts, I remember this puzzling us back in 2010.

So, I guess the question is are sponsors or correct shorts more important to your voting on this comp?

I like to pay more attention to the jumper design instead of the sponsor logos that maybe intruding on the design or introducing non club colour in a comp like this as it's not really the clubs decision on how the sponsor logos will look.

On a scale of 1 to 10:

10 = Jumper design
6 = right shorts
3 = sponsors

Sponsors add nothing to a jumper's design. It's like how bumper stickers don't contribute to the design of a car.

The problem in 2010 was trying to anticipate what teams were wearing for an upcoming round. Would be easier to run AJL on a 1-week delay so that all kits are known prior to a round being run.

I think with a bit of common sense, collectively we would come up with the right permutations for jumpers and shorts 90% of the time.

Actual new designs, what they're worn with and who against has stabilised over the last few years - the only new spanner in the works is GWS.

We saw on the weekend Sydney, who would clash with them most out of all, wore their full home kit agaisnt them - and that would probably be the biggest hurdle the Giants pose to us. Perhaps their attitude towards how often they turn out in that white clash jumper might be an issue first up, but that should be settled after the first couple of away games. They obviously have charcoal first-pref shorts that would clash with most other's 'homes' so, unlike GC, they should be wearing whites away (except in return derby, as with all vs SS)

I'd be happy to run through the matchups for the week Willo, and give you my thoughts before the Thursday, for instance.
It's just up to a choice between 90% accuracy and the novelty of being 'current' and parallel to the weekly tipping ritual if you like, or 100% with 'last week's news'.
I guess one positive is you could retrospectively assess the quality of the matchup, ie 'watching the game, jumper A didnt avoid a clash as well as it could have...'

This is the clincher for me; the reason why we should do it after the games have been played.

Personally I'm leaning towards the former in each option.

I'd prefer to go with sponsors the Monday after. Because there are some sponsors (not all) which can significantly impact the overall design of a jumper, like the blue Citi logo for Sydney. And reasons for the Monday after have already been explained.

Ok lads here's one for you.

A uni assignment (second year architecture) dictates we must use our 3d modelling skills to design a warehouse or factory for a product of our choice, including a distinct entry for customers and deliveries.
While there is some scope for textures and graphics on the inside, the emphasis is definitely on the cladding/facade design and landscaping.
Going from the handout, i'd say this project by Fashion Architecture Taste firm - a Villa in Holland - is the direction we should be heading.

I thought I'd go along the lines of some sort of sporting apparel manufacturer, being a passion of mine...
But I thought you people of aesthetics might have a few cents to chime in.

I'd like it to be posted on thursdays/Fridays, these days you can usually predict what jumper is going to be worn (except when there's a curveball thrown at us such as Carlton wearing their home against the Eagles home at an Eagles home game).

If you're going to include shorts (which I don't think you should) then it would be better to do the polls on Mondays since sometimes clubs wear dark or light shorts with their home jumper (West Coast and Carlton for example).



Use Mero's jumpers, we should be voting on the actual design of the jumper, not sponsor logos that are slapped on covering some design elements and are pretty much out of the clubs control on how they will look/what colours will be used.
