Freo is trendy. With 3 op shops within about 30 metres
A sports shop that sells size 12 kids saints jumprs for $10
& a submarine which i went thru.

There are plenty of mentally ill and ratty in every suburb, basically. Fremantle is a pretty trendy suburb, and certainly not cheap to live in. It's the most art-centric place in Perth, no doubt. I've never ever been chased or harassed in Fremantle, and there are way more mentally ill and beggers in central Melbs than Freo.

Also, Collingwood isn't really a bad area, is it? It's been pretty much gentrified, and I've never had an issue: Even when I took a drunk detour at midnight when I was walking back to Brunswick street. No issues.

Drug issues are huge in collingwood & richmond. Its the prime place in mel where herion drug deals are done. Collingwood station was shut at one stage to remove all the used syringes under the platform seats.

I would feel more safer walking the streets of "broadmeadows" at night than collingwood.
I would not like to walk around bulls creek at night.
