Steer clear of that route I think. It's easy to download music and movies virus-free, but it's a lot harder for software, especially the expensive stuff. Usually these "0-day" sites often bundle in malware with the software files, or even worse, a rogue .exe installer which fools a lot of innocent people. Best thing to do would be to buy the student version, which is what I'll be doing. I'm currently on the trial now.

Would've killed for a Creative Suite in high school, parents told me to wait for uni

Sure enough, we get 80% off with student and teacher, and everything i need for architecture (bar CAD and 3d modelling - which are free for us)... but the kids who did graphic design, photography etc at school are streets ahead in know-how.

AutoCAD is amaze; might try making a jumper using it for shigs

I no longer carry textbooks or writing books around school anymore. Everything is done on my Mac.

The only subject where I use pen and paper is in Maths, although the actual textbook is a .pdf on my Mac.
