SC_GC, I'm thinking of going to Orientation tomorrow, is it worth it?
Most of it is useless drivel that is fairly obvious if you have half a brain but the one thing that is useful is the hour "lecture" that is all about your particular course. You can also get your student ID and your laptop connected to the internet if you haven't already. I replied a bit late here so this is all probably useless to you anyway.

I ended up going to this Student Mentor thing. Did you go when you started? They just told me what to expect and gave me a tour of the campus, etc. So pretty straight forward stuff.

Around a month ago, I went to the Program Information and Enrolment Session, which is where I got my ID and was taken on a (another) tour of the campus. I also went into this lecture room with lots of other first year students where they just blathered on about shit. One lady even gave a short emotional speech. But then I went to another smaller lecture room with everyone else in my course where this guy gave us an outline of what we will be doing and took questions, which I think is what you're talking about.

Did you find it hard to find your way around when you first began?

I didn't and with the limited contact I've had with mentors, I don't think I missed out on much.

I never went on a campus tour so for maybe the first week I had to think about where I was going, but the uni isn't really that big and is well set out so you learn pretty quick.

I remember it clearly, being told how to access the portal for the twentieth time, that time management is important and to hurry up and join the guild. Fun times.
