I prefer white shorts.I've come around to Crows not clashing with teams wearing black, due to the gold and red hoops on their kit. Carlton, on the other hand, being all navy, still IMO clash with Essendon/Richmond/Port etc.
Now just to get teams who don't have white as a club colour to stop using it in shorts where they can. Bombers in red shorts last night would have looked great!

I don't think there's a clash against teams WITH gold (or red) in their guernsey. Just like Carlton and Geelong don't clash due to Geelong's navy hoops.I prefer white shorts.
I agree, I also think because of Adelaide's gold hoops there isn't a clash with teams without gold in their guernsey.
Crows and a team in gold don't clash because Crows' guernsey is majority navy, with a bit of red and a bit of gold. Or, majority navy and red.Geelong and Carlton don't clash because Geelong's guernsey is majority-white.
Crows and Hawks (the only team with a majority gold guernsey) do clash IMHO because their guernseys consist of a dark colour and gold stripes, and they both have dark shorts with striped socks.Crows and a team in gold don't clash because Crows' guernsey is majority navy, with a bit of red and a bit of gold. Or, majority navy and red.
Agreed. Hawks (all gold, brown stripes, with white/gold shorts) vs Crows (all navy, gold & red hoops, navy shorts) would work every time for me. Minimal brown (to clash with navy) vs minimal gold (to clash with gold). Clash kits unnecessary if this was adhered to every game between the clubs, stuff who is at home or not.Crows and Hawks (the only team with a majority gold guernsey) do clash IMHO because their guernseys consist of a dark colour and gold stripes, and they both have dark shorts with striped socks.
The back of the guernseys however fix this clash. And wearing white shirts with the guernseys make a big difference.

It's needed. No doubt about that, and I think it works better than coloured shorts because it stands out against most teams. Now just to get teams who don't have white as a club colour to stop using it in shorts where they can. Bombers in red shorts last night would have looked great!
Fair enough. I think mostly my total anti-white shorts came about when you'd have Essendon in white shorts playing away vs Geelong in blue shorts (for example). That's pretty much been eliminated, so I probably should take that as a win and let it goExactly.
But before you were saying how you didn't want teams who don't have white as a club colour wearing white shorts:

Their main kit has navy shorts, yes. But thesedays when they play a lot of teams they will wear white and the other team dark, because of the "who has more white" rule, I think. It's logical in the case of Geelong and North. Geelong white with navy stripes, white shorts, vs Port black with black shorts. Intsead of Geelong white with navy stripes, navy shorts, vs Port black with white shorts.I thought Geelong wore blue shorts at home?
It's odd, but that's how it has been since whenever the white short policy applied to Essendon. Hasn't it?

Anyway, the AFL will try and find some way to complicate things.

Actually, I'm not surprised. West Coast supporters are basically illiterate bogans if not boring accountants and school teachers.
Not much better than flogging that rabble. Jon Griffin should've gotten the Rossco, though.
