i'm just making the point that they wern't all magpie players
I get what you're saying. I do. And, initially, similar beliefs caused a small divide in the supporter base that is still well and truly alive today. But, technically, you're wrong. ;) And, you have to remember, every club has a list turnover at the end of each season. Port brought in 11 new players over the 12/13 season. Are they a new club now? Collingwood has completely turned over its list several times over since inception. Different club?

I have this in long sleeve. It's just beautiful. But I prefer the current BiB guernsey. <3

Also:
I've never really liked the Back in Black guernsey. Pretty generic, too one coloured and seemed to just rip off the SA state guernsey (Adelaide already ripped them off and we gave them crap for it). I thought the old one was pretty unique, and had black and white bolts. What's not to like?

The premiership guernsey will always hold value in my opinion, it should be our special away guernsey or something

1) An AFL franchise, by definition, is something that is allowed by the AFL to play in the AFL. Therefore all entities competing for the premiership are franchises. All of them. West Coast, Essendon, Sydney, Brisbane, Collingwood, Adelaide... The Port Adelaide Football Club has an AFL arm (the Power) which is a franchise. The PAFC* is not a franchise in and of itself.
2) Port Adelaide Football Club is the body that has been running Port Adelaide teams since 1870. As I said previously, in 1996, Port Adelaide moved from the SANFL to the AFL. Just like they moved into the SAFA in 1877 and changed their moniker and guernsey, they didn't automatically become a new club. They just moved leagues. A simple concept that you struggle to grasp.

*The Port Adelaide Football Club exists as a club. I know this, I've been to it, it's at Alberton. Denying this is basically calling my reality a lie. And the good people down at the PAFC in Alberton also run the AFL team the Power. The Power is the AFL franchise of the PAFC. The Power is the PAFC. Do you understand?

the Port Adelaide Football club moved in 1996 to the AFL (the first since the 20's) from the SANFL. In fact the SANFL magpies bought their license for $1 in 1996.

HOWEVER this is all moot. Both clubs merged together in 2010. ONE CLUB ONE HISTORY 2 Leagues. Until this the PAFC was in the AFL and the PAMFC was in the SANFL. Both are now PAFC.

Frankly what the hell would you know. you didn't live in Adelaide in 96 and you don't follow the PAFC. I don't tell Essendon people about their history or North Melbourne etc.

So except your wrong and everyone else is right on this. I know its hard to get your head around seeing Adelaide, West coast, Brisbane, Fremantle all start out as expansion franchises that evolved into clubs.

We were excepted in to the AFL hole and sole and actually didn't want to play in the SANFL anymore. However we were pressured to put a replacement in the SANFL by the other clubs fearing they would loose a rival. We partly got excepted as a club because of our efforts to get into the VFL in 89/90 resulting in the VFL becoming the AFL and the Crows being born...but thats another story ;)
