Samsungs skin would he the worst to learn android through. Stock or HTC's sense is the way to go. I went stock for my first android, and now I'm with Samsung. I'm gonna ROM my phone when Cyanogenmod 12 comes out in a stable though. Tablet wise I went with a nexus 9. Solid tablet.
Oh man TouchWiz is gross, it almost completely turned me off of android until I discovered that TouchWiz wasn't representative of all of Android. I like stock and I especially like that stock Android updates faster, but Sense is my favourite because I'm a HTC fanboy.

Stock is the shizz. No clogware or anything.

Man I finally got an update to Lollipop the other day and I'm super disappointed in the UI. It's the first time Android has gone backwards in this department IMO, KitKat is the best in this department.

Most torrents these days will be highest standard mp3 @ 320kps which is as good as you'd get at iTunes (they use AAC iirc - similar quality). Unless you're buying a lossless version via Bandcamp or a service that offers it, or the actualy physical CD or Vinyl, you're getting the same quality as a torrent.

Anyway I see the merit in buying an album before hearing it - you pay more attention to it and tend to listen to it more in order to really enjoy it, probably a product of not wanting to experience buyer's remorse.

No, like, it's awful quality. Always. YouTube compresses the shit out of audio. You'd probably not notice the difference with a tinny 20 buck pair of Apple bud.s anyway

So you can save files locally? I take it you have to pay a subscription for this service?
i dont use apple earphones, their shit and overpriced. I use a decent pair of sony earphones mate

I'ves acclimatized to it. But I replaced what I could. IE nova launcher and google keyboard. I'm definitely a stock fanboy. No SD card support put me off of buying a nexus phone though.

Took me a while to get used to it on my nexus 9, but I prefer it over KitKat/ holo ui.

Imagine me waiting on a touchwiz-ed version of lollipop... Gonna be greaaat. >_<

Am I the only person still nearly exclusively using torrents and blogs to download music? I just don't really get the streaming trend. How do you listen to your music on the go? Wouldn't that drain bandwidth?

Long live LimeWire.

haha, ****. I can't remember the last time I downloaded just a single instead of an album - must have been when I was using LimeWire.

here's a couple of essential desktop icons from the year 2006

I absolutely took KitKat for granted. I've gotten so used to Lollipop over the past couple of months and when I saw stock KitKat the other day I remembered how damn great it was. Some of the Lollipop/Material Design animations are gorgeous though.

I was tempted to get a Nexus 6, but the lack of SD card turned me off as well. Also the fact that the screen was just too big with too little functionality for my liking.

I probably got so many viruses from that program on my old computer.

The notification tray especially has just been grinding my gears. JB/KK nailed it, this one is just clogged and clunky. The clear notifications button is always in a different position. Just. Shit.

The amount of white in the UI is an eyesore at night too. Instead of making the UI fit Google Now, it should have been vice versa.

Nah, I'm with you. I only get 1GB of data a month with T£l$tra and given I almost always listen to music on my phone when driving, a streaming service just wouldn't be feasible. Plus I prefer to 'own' my music.

Countless mp3s which were actually .exe viruses.

I remember when I found out you could download....videos... on it.

Nothing wrong with supporting artists you like who put money, time and effort into making a product you consume and enjoy.

This. We may all access music via "other means" but let's keep the inferences to that at a minimum, and refer to the owning of music in more general terms.

Exciting times. Runescape running in IE with iTunes bumping 128k mp3 radio rips from LimeWire.

Daaaaaaays

I'm in no hurry to ditch my 80 something gig music library.

Or downloading a track only to hear "go to www.thiswebsiteisfake.com to hear this track

I don't like how you can't long press toggles into the settings menu. (Is, hold Bluetooth on and it takes you to Bluetooth settings). That's my only criticism though.

I get 1.5GB, so yeah, same boat as you.

I have 40GB.. Its growing though

I use a lot of data. I don't know why.

95% of my songs are 256kbps AAC, which is essentially the same as 320kbps MP3 but slightly smaller file size. I down-converted about 5,000 songs worth of 320 mp3 to 256 aac and saved a fair bit of disk space (this is when I was running quite low)

5gb a month
I usually only use a 2-3 gb a month anyway. I used to use more when I had the facebook app, but I uninstalled it and have saved data and had better battery life since. I use up most of mine with YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and Play Music sometimes. It's mostly from YouTube though.
