Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

It's probably just me, but for some reason I can't access the footyjumpers website...

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.bomberblitz.com

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

I've had this issue for a while now, about 2-4 weeks now...

anyway, so... Richmond, 5 wins in a row, they must kicking it into gear to hit 9th...

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

NZ = 3 shots on target the whole tournament! :)

v Slovakia, 9 shots on goal, 3 on target
v Italy, 3 shots on goal, 1 on target
v Paragyat, 4 shots on goal, 1 on target.

That makes 5. And from 16 shots that's not that bad, considering we didn't have that much ball.......

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

Ive just done a AJL finals prediction using the current ladder and the current AFL finals system, but I cant work out who gets the "home ground advantage" in the GF.

Ive gone through the last ten GF's to see if there is a bit of a pattern but I cant find anything. Maybe this is because Geelong (white) and Collingwood (stubborn dicks) played in five of the 10 GF's

Do one of you guys know if there is a rule or what options we will have to decide who gets "home ground advantage" if there isnt a rule

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

I'm pretty sure that technically, the "home advantage" is the winner of "Preliminary Final 1"

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

Yeap, basically should be the highest ranked side on the ladder of the two finalists.

With the real-life Granny, the AFL seems to work on the basis of making the teams as distinguishable as possible with the shorts/socks whilst retaining tradiational strips.

We are yet to see a clash jumper be worn in a Grand Final - would it be a big issue among footy circles?
As we saw on Monday morning, it happens all the time in soccer (even A-League here), more often than not even in the FA Cup Final (see this: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/English_Football_League/FA_Cup_Finals/2000-2010.html; great little site)

Could we see it this year with Collingwood v Geelong, or Collingwood v St Kilda? (note the "away" teams - no chance of getting the Pies to change jumpers  )
Or maybe in years to come with St Kilda v Fremantle?

Your agreeing but contradicting me at the same time. Either its the winner of Prelim 1 (could be eighth) or it is who ever finishes the highest of the grand finalists (could be first-seventh)

Based on the current Ladder (after Round 15) the GF will be Port vs Melb. Port have the "home ground advantage" and will wear their home kit. What do Melbourne wear?? Ive made up the rest of the finals as "home ground advantage" vs what ever they will wear that will not clash/most likly to wear. This means Melbourne will have to wear their white clash.

No thy havent. I looked back at the last ten GF's and no one has worn their clash, and the clash as we know it today didnt really exist before 2000, St Kilda's yellow Pura Milk away and Norths away with the roo logo are the two that spring to mind.
I think soccer fans are more understanding of the needs for clash/alternate kits, then Aussie Rules fans. I mean they accept that their team will run out in an "interesting" pink kit at some games (see Everton's 2010/11 away) Also Ive know of Historical Kits for a while, I found it quite interesting. I would like a website that has the complete history of NRL/League in Australia jerseys now. There is something on Wiki but is far from complete.

I doubt we will see a clash jumper if the GF is Geelong vs Collingwood because Geelong pretty much refused to wear their navy clash earlier in the year. St. Kild might wear their clash.

As far as I know...

On the Tuesday of GF week, there is the Carbine Club Lunch - a big event attended by the high rollers of town. The two club presidents are in attendance and part of the lunch features coin tosses to decide who gets to wear the home strip and shorts, and who gets to run onto the field first.

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

I think, although I'm not entirely certain, that for both grand finalists it is a home game so they wear the home guernsey.

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

Yeh that would be the obvious choice, that both teams play in their tradional home jumpers, but Im running a tournament/comp that match up the jumpers that the teams wear in each round in the AFL and people vote for the one that they think in better. Here's the last round completed

Anyway Ive just done a finals series using the currint ladder and Port and Melbourne are in the GF, which is a problem. If these two teams ever make it into the GF together they could not both wear their home jumpers. So I was wondering if anyone knew who got awarded the privlege of wearing their home kit (shorts inc) in the GF.

:EDIT: I didnt see your post there Omega. Ohhk maybe we should do that. None of you would trust me though because if Port win the toss over Melbourne you will all call me a cheater. Its all ifs and buts at he moment anyway about who will play in the GF. I will poll all of these options, among others, when it gets a bit closer.

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

I think that is a bit late to decide. Id like to run the GF poll over the entire weekend, Friday night to Sunday night.

Maybe if we could find out who wins the coin toss at the lunch that Omega is talking about we could match the two AJL GF teams to the two AFL GF teams. For example Port/Geelong and Melbourne/St. Kilda. Is it easy to find out info about this lunch??
