Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Discussion Thread

Ha, I didn't even realise that was what this thread was for. :)

My username came from a musical side project between Jason Newsted of Metallica, and Sepultura's guitarist Andreas Kisser, which they called Sepultallica. When I was picking a new username somewhere probably 10 years ago now, Sepultura and Metallica were my two favourite bands, and I've used that username almost everywhere since. The 9 got added due to someone using "sepultallica", so I added the 9 for Shane Crawford. :D

Do you sit in that block?

That shout always woke us up in dull periods :D

As for mine - one of my best mates from high school was a one-eyed soccer, particularly Glory, supporter; and pretty much hated anything and everything to do with WC and Freo due to their biopoly (?) over sport in Perth.
So, we were dubbed "the Smeagles" and Freo "the Shockers" or "W*nkers with Anchors".

The name stuck for years, even to the stage when in conversation over footy, I would always refer to us as the Smeagles.
He must have been a fan of Lord of the Rings (Smeagol/Golum)...
Fun piece of trivia: I've never read/seen the Hobbit or a LOTR in my life:eek:

Re: Footy Jumpers Board Random Chat Thread

"Omegaville" came about as a kind of opposite of Alphaville, which I believe was some sci-fi movie, but I know it better as the name of a 1980s band that recorded "Forever Young" (before those Youth Group upstarts covered it). When I joined deviantART I took on the username Omegaville, going for the other end of the Greek alphabet. On dA my tagline is, "The last place".

It's a good name to use because it's unlikely to be taken already. Another name I've used on forums previously, and I use on eBay, is "Invader Jedda". This is simply a cross between two cartoon characters: Jedda Walker (Defenders of the Earth, 1980s) and Invader ZIM (2001).

Haha
Totally my next sig. Cheers brah.

And why the hell did this get renamed the "chat" thread? We're not some group of soccermums chewing the fat over our low-fat coffee.
This is serious business. This is DISCUSSION.

:thumbsu:

EDIT:
Smeargle looks a bit faggy though...

Gibbsy is the nickname everyone knows me by. Swear half the people don't know my actual name :p

And I used to bowl spinners back in the day until I realised I was crucifying my shoulder doing it.

Snoopy Junior. I can remember watching Charlie Brown when I was younger and I thought Junior just made it sound more upbeat and happy!
Also, does anyone know if the Hawks are wearing their clash strip on the weekend?

Doubt it mate. It used to be more used as an away strip but now seems to only be for clashes (and the odd promotion), which is the way it should be.

Yeah, I agree with you Willo because, we don't clash!
But the last time we played Fremantle in Subiaco we wore our clash, but maybe that changes in the Finals.

Yeah, like I said I think it was used as an away jumper but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. We had the perfect opportunity to wear it Vs WCE earlier this year and did not( which created a bit of a clash). And I don't fancy seeing us wearing our clash in finals.

Looks like Hawthorn have made a thread about this in our forum. Seems like I got some attention, didn't I?
