Just a really random, unrelated post to this thread  I saw Kane Cornes in Subway yesterday. Made my day :)
Did I tell you all about my encounter with Dylan Roberton a few weeks ago?

Watching the Eagles - Carlton game and man, how great does the grass look?

No, you didn't as far as I'm aware. Tell us about it...

Agree, the Subi grass looks prime!

What's up with the Carlton socks too? Never seen em before.

That doesn't look like it'd fit on a normal human body. The shoulders are way too broad and the waist too narrow. If this board was a magazine, you'd be accused of depicting an unrealistic image for girls to aspire to.

In Western Australia, we have this annual sporting event. It's the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere, in terms of participation. It's for a lot of male and female sports.

My school won this year (and the last). Both footy GF's were total crackers. But that's beside the point.

Everyone stays together. And on one night, everyone goes out to La Porchetta (Freo dwellers will know it - an Italian place, obviously) and the movies. In this restaurant, i'm sit around this table, just talking with my mates. I spot this really familiar bloke at the table across. I knew he held some importance. When I realised it was Dylan Roberton, I could feel myself getting really excited (no, my penis was still flaccid, for those comedic types...).

I tried telling people, but no one actually believed me. I asked these other blokes who knew a lot about footy. They agreed. So I mustered up the confidence and walked over to Dylan Roberton and his mate. I say "hey, are you Dylan Roberton?". His mate starts laughing. Roberton replies "no, sorry". And I tried to convince him it was. A few seconds later he said "what's the Dockers? AFL?".

Cheeky prick!

PAFC, you might be interested to know I'm involved with a charity group with Mitch Curnow. And I beat him in Mario Kart ;)

Ah ok, what charity is it? You must be proud that you have beaten an AFL player at something ;)
Haven't heard a lot about Mitch. Do you know how his footy's going and whether he is likely to be retained or not?

Yeah Gibbsy. Last time we raised just over $5000 for a hospital to be built in Kenya. We were doing one of the challenges we did for evry $500 raised, playing Mario Kart with two people on one controller. We lapped him twice.
And PAFC, given your ruck situation, he'd be a monty to be retained.

From a clash jumpers thread on the main board

Yep.

Let's go to the checklist.

-- [strike]Posters split in agreeing or disagreeing with the general premise of the OP[/strike]
-- [strike]Poster referring to the good old days of black and white and it wasn't a problem when I went to the footy with an onion tied to my belt.[/strike]
-- [strike]Thread degenerates into argument about how "Collingwood doesn't clash with Geelong as long as they wear black shorts"[/strike]
-- [strike]Collingwood poster to retort that they have clash strip but Essendon doesn't.[/strike]
-- Essendon supporter refers other posters to their CONSTITUTION
-- Harmesy37 shows up with his ludicrous, rambling incoherent tirade against clash strips.
-- [strike]Complaints about how every club uses white in their clash strip[/strike]
-- [strike]Counter-complaint that North's argentina strip and Carlton's baby blue strips are butt-ugly[/strike]
-- Poster complains that Hawthorn's clash strip is terrible because it has a light front and dark back, thus accentuating the clash.
-- Thread peters out with no conclusion and another version is made again in 2 months.

Almost there. :thumbsu:

I'm a big UK FourFourTwo collector. And in year 5, I won a Soccer International subscription (terrible magazine, in retrospect). Anyway, I was just going through a couple of them then. I see an orange Jetstar tab peek out. I figure it's an old AFL record.

Pull it out, and there's a mint condition 2007 Heritage Round record. I went to the (abysmal) Sydney - Freo game at the SCG. It poured with rain, so i'm surprised that it's in such good condition. I also had a laugh. Eight tickets were inside. I usually go to the footy with my dad, but my mum and sister like to tag along (very, very rarely). Mum took the precaution of printing out two tickets each...

I'd been thinking about that record last week. It was a nice surprise to find it. There's a lovely page on every jumper of that Heritage Round, and a brief explanation of the jumper (the umpires uniform is also shown). I could upload it tomorrow.

Anyone who wants to see mine can have mine if they want it, just PM me :thumbsu: Rarely ever use it though, just letting ya know

I've been getting the footy record every game I've been to since about 05 I think. Have a massive collection, literally hundreds of them in a few huge boxes. I think I have every GF Record since 06 and just about all the Heritage round records in those years too. I often read them when I'm bored. If anyone ever wants something in particular from them regarding guernseys or a major event, let me know and I can probably upload also. Might have a read of my old Heritage Round ones when I get the time too (were always my favourite :)) and upload if I find anything of interest. I remember one year (05?) the whole record was printed in black and white, early 1900s font. Was a cracker!

I had to trash a lot of my old records when doing a massive clean out of the house a couple of years ago. I kept all the ones of significance, but got rid of the weekly Collingwood ones that had no real importance.

Probably the favourite footy record I have is the 2003 Heritage Round one. It's my most crinkled and damaged record by far, but it's one of the best too. Has a bit about every jumper that was worn that week. From the Melbourne vs Geelong game, the night I got to play on the MCG as a little tacker :)

Have been collecting GF records since 1999. Another one of my faves is the International Rules record Australia vs Ireland from 2001. It's got a glossy silver cover.

I've got the record for the last match at Princess Park somewhere in my room
I've got it signed by about 10 Carlton stars who played in that match.

And I have a Record from every Geelong match I've ever been to. Easily a few hundred.

Need someone to post the Freo chevron paint template. Seen it around before but can't find it anywhere :( Have it on my other computer but as you all know access to that now is very limited.

Cheers :thumbsu:
