From now on, footy and football, k? Just can't get into Rugby League. Union is okay, still not my favourites. Anyone watch X Games? I love that! It's awesome!

No, still too confusing. Football and footy are the exact same thing, just like basketball and b-ball. Its an abbreviation. In Australia its football and soccer. In the states they have no problems like this, its how it should be (it was forever up until about 5 years ago)

Hate soccer, hate rugby league, hate rugby union.

Football's my number 1, then American Football then cricket

Not too shabby ;) Footy is obviously the best and cricket's up there too. Would probably follow the rugby and some of the American sports quite religously too if they had better coverage over here in SA :(

Footy my favourite by a fair way, I can't get much more passionate about it. Cricket and soccer would nearly be equal second, cricket wins out just. I like a bit of rugby from time to time but don't follow it much. Never grasped American Football and still don't understand the rules, explains why I'm shithouse at Madden. Also, no-one's mentioned tennis - I watch the Aus Open and Wimbledon religiously. :thumbsu:

I find it hard to dedicate myself to more than two teams. I love, and will love, Arsenal and Fremantle to death. They'll be there longer than any girlfriend, than any home. I don't know how Americans can be into four, five teams... surely your passion wanes?

@EFH: I've never actually been to a professional soccer game. I'll definitely check out some Glory games next year, though. Certainly seems like a nice afternoon out, taking it easy and watching a Perth game. Can see myself going to South Freo games as well. Not as a hardcore, vocal fan, more of a nice place to be (although I do support the Bulldogs).

If anything, i'm not a fan of any A-League club. I'm more interested and supportive of the whole league. I used to hate Gold Coast, but I feel a bit sorry for them now. I've always liked Newcastle, but their ownership has seen my adoration wane. I really like the Heart and Mariners, though. Especially Central Coast. A great community club.

I hate cricket. And call me blasphemous, but I support England when I do watch it. I just hate the Australian cricket team. Guys like Ponting and Clarke absolutely shit me. I hate their culture of arrogance.

Play tennis for a club. Love it!

OMG...At last, my long lost twin! Finally someone who shares the same veiw as me!!
Hah! Certainly comforting to know it's not just my dad and I who share this view. It's not because I hate Australia (I obviously don't hate the nation of my birth) and it's not to go against the grain. I just feel the way these guys conduct themselves is very disappointing, considering the pedestal they're on.

You're a good guy, EFH!

^^Awesome to know that someone else is thinking along the EXACT same lines as me!

Can't wait for some certain posters who ripped into me about this to see!;)

Footy and cricket are my two favourites. Only two sports I follow closely. But footy will always be my number 1. I like a bit of tennis, especially when the Aus Open is on. I like a little basketball, league and soccer as well.

And I probably follow Tassie more than Australia in the cricket, disappointing loss for us this week.

Here's a thought I was having recently...

Excluding Adelaide, all teams to join the competition since the mid 80s have initially had some sort of graphic on their guernsey, (eg. West Coast's Eagle, Port Adelaide's old lightning) Since then only three of those teams have changed to what I call a "Traditional Strip" being Port, Fremantle and now the Bulldogs.

Now guernseys with graphics on them aren't always bad (take for example West Coast's wings guernseys) but in my opinion, they're just not as intimidating as a traditional strip is, and they just don't feel like they're going to stand the test of time. Take Brisbane's paddlepop guernsey against Collingwood's white on black, or Gold Coast's McDonald's chips against Essendon's red on black, it's just not the same.

Now what I was thinking was, out of all the simple, traditional in the game's history, what more could be done? Out of all the guernseys I consider to be traditional, only 4 of those teams don't share a common design. So for a new team coming in, what could be a new and unique, but still traditional design they could adopt?

The thing I dislike about NBA is that it seems most (international) supporters go toward successful brands. How many people liked the Clippers before Blake Griffin arrived? And the idea of people changing sides because a player did... I dunno. I feel soccer's going that way as well, which is unfortunate.

I mean, I feel a bit bad about 'supporting' the New York Knicks. I only like them because they're from a cool city.
