OMG it's GANTY.![]()
In the first year of colour TV in Australia, clubs altered their strips. Melbourne's navy became almost royal, Essendon and Richmond flirted with red and yellow shorts respectively. Fitzroy lightened their red and blue. But that's mostly a background peripheral.Just finished watching Biffs, Bumps and Brawlers 2 one of the clips was Fitzroy vs Footscray. Fitzroy were wearing yellow shorts and Footscray were wearing red shorts. The Footscray jumper looked like the one the used in the 80s and 90s before they added the Bulldog.
Does anyone on here know if this was a regular occurrence or just a odd one off for the game in the clip?

Aha thanks for the warm welcome back guys. Like Ive said a couple of times now I want to get back into designing but I have run into a bit of wall in the good idea and insipration department.welcome back Ganty, you have been severely missed
Thanks Silent Alarm. Yeh I did know that some of the teams did some wierd stuff with jumper and shorts colours when colour TV was introduced but I didnt know about Fitzroys yellow shorts and Footscrays red shorts. A bit weird of them both to be worn in the same game.In the first year of colour TV in Australia, clubs altered their strips. Fitzroy wore yellow shorts away from home. This was for one season – (1975) the year colour TVs were available.

Where do you look through every single club's guernseys? Sounds interesting. Nothing wrong with my club's black and white stripes though
Three clubs I support wear the best three jumpers in the country actually:

Haha not even close mate, I don't like the prison bars tbh, don't see what's so special about them or the Port 'v'.
PS: You support Collingwood??

They're just bold, classic jumpers. A lot of why the prison bars are so special is because of what they have represented over the years - success. Not only is the design itself unique and intimidating enough, but the teams and players over the years who have worn it are as well. Like it or not the Port Adelaide football club is the most successful in the country and has produced some of the greatest individual teams of all times. When teams come up against this they're intimidated by the success and pride that the guernsey and club have been a part of. Like earning a baggy green for example its a huge honour at the club to be given the opportunity to wear the prison bars.
And hell no :eel: Hate the club! The local club that I play for/support wears that![]()
All west coast eagles jumpers are overated & overpriced.
Yellow peril>>>>>>>Prison bars imoThis! The only people who dislike the prison bars are WC fans. I think the yellow peril and ochre (especially) are EXTREMELY overrated

I don't dislike the bars, it's a good jumper but it's a pretty overrated jumper considering it's basically a normal striped jumper with thinner stripes and with the stripes cut off under the cuffs.
Let's move on, we all have different biases and opinions which is fair enough Yellow Peril's just a phase highlighted by its use this year and the sheer amount of adoring WC fans on this board. The eagles won't use it for another 10 years and soon enough people will get over it again soon enough. If Port wear the prison bars next year the same thing will happen, everyone will fall in love with it again. Don't get me wrong, the peril is good but very dated and overrated. A modern version would look nowhere near as good either meaning its doubtful to make a full-time return anytime soon.
The prison bars are a true iconic, intimidating and traditional design which actually has true meaning to the club. That's the difference imo...
