Those were the days mate. When we actually criticised design rather than finding a way to say "that's nice," when we were tucked away as "Footy Fotoshops", when KOTW ruled the board, and when the very first RCT (started by yourself) took about a year and a half to hit 1,000 posts. The average age of the board was a lot higher, and even if you were still fairly young, you actually posted like you'd been around the block a few times. None of this one word post crap.

I just feel we need to weed out a lot of the shit that gets posted here these days. I also echo the sentiments of Smeags and Cam. Thank god there are some great designers on this board who keep the place ticking over - for exactly the purpose it was created. Not to ramble on about who's favourite team is cooler.

Don't think of me as being bitter - it's just my views on the current state of the board.

Yeah. I went on a massive holiday at the beginning of 2011 involving a ridiculous road trip around Australia (as well as my computer going arse over ****..), so I was away for 6 months and basically didnt want to spend as much time on bigfooty or other sorts of sites when I got back, and havent really designed since. I spend more of my time now sketching out elevations and floor plans of buildings, and listening to music so underground its just me in my bedroom :D.

Does that look ok for a jumper for my school's upcoming Drama Tour to LA? It needs to be conservative but I think it looks a bit too plain.

Also does anyone know where I could get a photoshop template for a gym bag?

It's a bit plain (maybe if they made the logos bigger it wouldn't look so plain), but at the same time it's nice and simple, I quite like it.:thumbsu:

Yeah that's what I was thinking but my school doesn't like it when we look to extravagant, and maybe putting names on the back would help.

I know I've said it a few times before but the ****ing competitions side board, ruined the ****ing board

I tend to agree. Isnt it ironic how the main feature of the board has actually taken a back seat to the excruciating NBA discussions that have no substance :o

I'll stick with my sixty degree weather, thank you. Vegas is quite nice in the winter.

I have to be honest, I'm surprised at how many people outside of the US watch the NBA.

I'm not discounting that. I still love the board and its members, and I always will. But it's sort of sad that the competitions no longer seem to be the focus of the board, which was what saw it promoted to the top in the first place.

Yeah. I remember putting hours into designing half-decent entries for KOTW and to a lesser extent, AGOTW, decent enough to win a couple of rounds of one or the other, I struggle to remember. We were like the hipster board back then, all the way down the page. But then we went mainstream :(.....And I can't remember the place being as good since. Not to say brilliant new members haven't joined since but still.....

On a different note I have to go and buy the Year 12 Uniform tomorrow....Which reminds me school is only two weeks away too. Actually not dreading the return like I have in other years. I've had a good holiday, and will try my hardest to have a good year as a bloke and academically in 2012. I missed out on passing Year 11 NCEA with the top level by two credits :mad:, so I'll be out to put that right.....

Kind've nervous about going into year 11 especially because of all the distractions that come up during any given year.

Year 11s nothing, I found year 10 harder and a bigger step up. Could be worse, year 12 coming up for me with chem, physics and maths studies. Gonna be a nightmare...

Anyway, let's change the topic from school. No-one wants to think about that shit in the holidays :o

I am totally opposite.

I've not seen anyone from school since it ended, except my girlfriend. I don't miss anyone at all.

Hi.
For randomness and mature conversation (out of place in this thread I know) but I have a question

Looking at a new computer down the track. Apple.
Do I go that big 21 or 27 in all in one apple desktop or do I go the 15 inch laptop.

Pros of laptop: portable, can be used anywhere.
Cons: I've had laptops the best part of 8 years, I tend to go through them alot and break them. I want something that'll last a while without keys falling off or getting very dirty etc. Pay arm and leg for something fast when in desktop it's cheaper and better.

Pros of a desktop: nice big screen. Built in one. If I break keyboard, it's all just accessories for the comp and can easily be replaced. Would make me have an office like set up in corner of house.
Cons: not portable, would have to stick to iPad for travelling, when they aren't the best for storing photos and organizing in files etc.

My problem is I'll get an apple laptop and go " I wish I got a desktop".
I'll get a desktop and go " I wish I got a laptop"

Laptop. Obviously more versatile and portable, but if you do want to a bigger screen you can just plug it in to a tv/monitor. I've had my MacBook Pro for about 2.5 years now and everything works perfectly, and I am super clumsy with most things that break easily. A word of advice though, opt for the anti glare screen as it makes a world of difference.
