I don't get this comment at all. Milne was the standout small forward all year? He was always a lock for the side imo.

Milne is a cheap possession getter. Rarely goes in for the hard ball, regularly puts in short. If you watched the game closely you would realise this.

Healy's reasoning for NicNat was laughable.

Ah, I watch the game closely. Milne kicked more goals than any small forward and by a far away too. And considering that kicking goals is still the primary task for a forward (especially for ones in the Milne mould) I would find it very hard to argue against Milne.

Seeing as though you watch the game so closely, can you give me an example or two of Milne not going in for the hard ball and pulling up short?

Rioli was the worst selection.

How? How at all? Rioli would've been a very close selection no doubt but I definitely don't think he was the worst.

And I didn't say NicNat's selection was bad, just Healy's reasoning was laughable.

Rioli is the most overrated player in the game, didn't deserve his selection in any way.


Just for the record the changes I would make:


Jetta in for Rioli
Jacobs in for NN
Mitchell in for someone (can't remember all the other selections)

Ah, I watch the game closely. Milne kicked more goals than any small forward and by a far away too. And considering that kicking goals is still the primary task for a forward (especially for ones in the Milne mould) I would find it very hard to argue against Milne.

Scoring the goals doesn't necessarily make him the BEST all round player in the league for his role. In my opinion he doesn't deserve the credit he is given, that being a spot in the AA squad in front of Pavlich/Jetta/several others.

You wouldn't have to search hard for circumstances where he pulls in short.

You're all going to disagree with me, I know, but I have different opinions on the game than the usual spectator, haha.

I totally agree with the Bruce McAvaney thing. The way he goes on about him is cringeworthy and no doubt he overrates him. But you can't claim that Rioli is the most overrated player in the league just because one or two seven commentators get way too excited about him.

But the thing about Rioli going missing is just not true. Granted, he may have had one or two games where he became a bit of a non factor but every player has those days. If you watch him live and see all the hard work he does around the ground on normally one of opposition's best stoppers/defenders than you may look at it in a different light.

But anyone, we're not going to agree on everything E

K, I'll agree that he's more over-hyped then overrated (still overrated though) but he didn't deserve his selection this year, Jetta had the far better year.


Reminds me of Davis getting the selection over Lecras back in 2009/2010.

How on earth does Nic Naitanui get to be the starting AA ruckman? And Darren Glass captain? Sam Mitchell very very unlucky. Looks like a team Bruce McAvaney picked.

Darren Glass is a bloody fantastic captain.

Nic is the best ruckman in the game.
