Wellingham is good but not great. Probably not worth pick 17 IMO.

I would of preferred something between 12 and 15, but I'll take 17. Pretty good player, just didn't get the opportunity to excel at Collingwood.

Wouldn't say that. I was having this discussion with a Pies friend the other night. Wellingham was in our best 22, no doubt about it. He'd probably been in our best 22 for the last three, perhaps four seasons. He's had plenty of opportunities imo. Ever since that incident where he knocked Simpson into next week his confidence had been shot. Pulling out of contests ever so slightly, taking short steps, I think he was afraid he was going to do it again. He's a good bloke and hopefully he makes great use of his career at West Coast. I don't think we'll have any gaping holes without him.

He was in our best 22 for sure, but with Swan, Pendlebury, Ball etc. in the middle he was forced to played outside where he couldn't get as much of the ball and create scoring opportunities as he would of in the centre. The games I remember him playing best in were when Swan and Pendlebury weren't playing and he could play a full game as an onballer. Don't get me wrong, he had a very good few years but I think we could of got a bit more out of him if it wasn't for Swan, Pendlebury and the like.
