I think its fairly natural that you would develop an affinity for the local team when your not in the same city let alone state as your traditional team. I think supporting two teams even in the same league is fine unless you start following multiple teams just because you can.

I said picked alot in that paragraph, haha. #shitatwriting

I've supported Hawthorn since I was born, but I've been losing interest as a supporter ever since the 2008 flag (a.k.a. best day of my life). The fact we've been so much more competitive since pre- 2007, has made winning so much less satisfying as a supporter. I love the club to bits, but the amount of glory hunters that have jumped on board since then has given me the shits. I understand that with success comes a bigger fan base, which is great for the club itself.. but the attitude shown by BF posters, supporters at matches, the players (particuarly at training)- go to waverley and you'll understand, and even staff members (hai Alistair) is starting to give the club a bad name.

Some will disagree, but Hawthorn just aren't the club they used to be.. in many ways.

I've lost an unbearable amount of passion as a fan.
I can actually understand this. Not first hand, as I've never seen my two clubs win anything (except an FA Cup when I was 10, and an undefeated EPL season at age 8, but it's impossible to understand the importance at that age). But I've heard of it happening a lot. Plenty of people have seemed to lose the passion a bit. People are lucky to see premierships and success, and when you've waited all your life for it, it's a bit like... well... what now?

I think Hawthorn have a good name, however. You have a pretty endearing culture. You don't consistently cheat the system, you are far from perennial losers and bad sports, and you go about most things in a respectful way. Guys like Luke Hodge and Sam Mitchell are good to have. They help personify a club. I think every fan would want those two blokes around the club. I'm also a big Roughy fan, just because he's so grouse.

Gloryhunters come and go. No point getting upset in things you can't really control. And also, BF attracts: Losers, loners, people who are wayyyyy too obsessed with the boring side of sport, trolls, and hacks. You're not going to get too many blokes with level headedness.

Life is short. If you're cool with changing clubs, who cares? There is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting a club where you now live, and particularly when that club isn't really successful. The Suns will appreciate getting as many fans as they can, whereas Hawthorn can replace your membership with a few Cat Memberships... Buy a beanie and a jumper and help your new side out. Good luck. You've got a great defender in Broughton, as well.

"Now we're good it's no fun."

Wut

Well, for me, the only team I support that I can safely say is best in the league is Olympiakos...Title #40 coming up I'd say! :D
And Carlton, according to their supporters...

And Carlton, according to their supporters...
Because we finished on top of the league, did we?
Exactly. Carlton fans are really optimistic. I'm a realist, so I can tell you highest we're getting next year is another elimination final loss.

"Munt." You stay classy, Geelong.
I'm a deadset mallrat man, don't cross me in town, I'll ruin you.

Nah just kidding man, but don't cross me, I'll probably crap myself.

Do you pronounce "mall" like "mal," (as in the name Al with an 'm') as well? That is, as opposed to "mall" as in maul a meal.

You're missing my point.

I pronounce it the second way.
So do I. And so does every other Australian I've met. But a Geelong dwelling BF poster pronounced it is "mall" (M-Al) so I was a bit curious.

Aren't they called Shopping Centres?
Difference between the two. A mall can be like an arcade, a strip of shops in a walkway or something. Vastly superior to the NBA caps and grossness of a shopping centre.
