When I first started following NRL properly(which was just at the start of this year), I had trouble shifting from 'umpire' to 'ref'. 'Ref' just feels a little weird

I have never really thought about it. I probably call the umpires in AFL refs. Although we have umpires in cricket. I think I use them pretty interchangeably between all sports. Who do you support in the NRL?

I have a lot of mates in Qld that can't believe I follow 'gayFL'. I find though I enjoy every sport once I understand the rules and tactics. There is a reason why millions of fans would follow whatever sport. There is a lot of athleticism and skill in every sport and I now follow about 5 teams pretty closely (Broncos, Suns, Arsenal, Bengals and Bulls in the NBA).

I can understand why people won't like certain sports from the first impression. Even things like NFL seem weird at first glance with all the stoppages. That is all part of the game though.

I have followed the Suns since the start of 2012. My girlfriend and I were going out from the start of 2011 and after a couple of trips down to Adelaide where she lives and all her friends and family talking about AFL I decided to pick a team. Once I decided to follow the AFL Gold Coast Suns were the only real option. Karmichael Hunt made up 100% of my mind as I always loved in when playing for the Broncos. So I went out the next day and bought a Suns home jersey and have been wearing it ever since.

Suns have given me some great moments. Watching the Suns vs. Carlton game last year was amazing. My brother and I both support the Suns and his fiance(lived in Melbourne, supports Carlton) had her friend(also supports Carlton) were up visiting Rockhampton. That game was so incredible that as the best man to his wedding the story about that night was my whole speach. Haha.

Also the Suns vs Richmond game where Karmichael kicked the winning goal. Priceless.

With my girlfriend going for the Crows though last weekend wasn't a happy time for many people around here.

Hunt is a brilliant player. He isn't as flashy or as skilful as an Ablett, O'Meara, or a Prestia nor does he have the footy brain of Rory Thompson but what he does have is toughness and presence. His tackling (obviously from his league days) is top notch. He's 100x better than Folau ever was. A bona fide midfielder.

So I went out the next day and bought a Suns home jersey and have been wearing it ever since.

Honestly mate, if she goes for the Crows then you should dump her, her head obviously isn't screwed on. Crows are on the decline, and will be for a while due to penalties handed to them for breaching the salary cap. Port Adelaide's where it's at!

Yeah, I am not a huge fan of their away strip. I do like their home strip though. Also the 25th year anniversary this year.

I don't think he will ever be as good as Ablett or O'Meara. Hopefully he can always be good enough to stay in the main squad though. Maybe pull off something like Mike Pike. His tackling is always way up there. I know I would never want to be hit by him. Or Campbell Brown, that guy looks solid. As far as Izzy goes, I'm not really sure if he actually gave it much of a shot I'm sure if he stuck at it he could have become an alright player. I just think he was in it for the money. Not that I really blame him. Everyone seems to hate on money grabbing players. I totally would go play a game I have never heard of before for lots of money.

Nah, all her other qualities are too good to dump. She went home for a week and cooked be 3 weeks worth of meals and left them in the freezer. So good. Haha. Hopefully it won't hit the Crows to hard. Because of here I kinda have the Crows as a second team. Although whenever they are playing Port I always barrack for Port just to get to her. Haha.

Also you can't ever change your team.
