Thinking about redoing something pie_machine did when I started on this board.
He would name a US city or state and then we would vote on an appropriate nickname, then design the jumpers. I think he called it the USFL.
But, instead of doing this with the USA, I would do it with Australia.
I might go with two teams from each of the capital cities.
Though?
I've actually thought about doing something, just myself, for Queensland.
I mean, you have the issue of well established identities in most Aussie cities. If you're not thinking of the Melbourne Demons, then you have A-League, cricket, and rugby sides to contend with. Whether you're avoiding nicknames or contriving colours, the restrictions can be a bit too rigid.
WA and SA have footy leagues. New South Wales has the NRL. I reckon you could string up an okay Brisbane-based footy hypothetical. Say the league begins in 1900 via some south-of-the-Barassi blokes moving over.
Paddington, Newmarket, Albion... they're a blank canvas. Maybe Hand, Everton Lions or lmach have some experience with clubs or something there... but most of us could do anything and any resemblance to actual clubs would be coincidental.
Plus you'd have places like the Goldy, the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Townsville, and Cairns. People like mocking up expansion clubs and some of those places could have franchises.
Plus it's still directly Australian, so it doesn't feel foreign and forced.
Sorry for hijacking...

We did something quite similar called AFL: Rebooted, I think the USFL was actually a follow up to it. Here's the Melbourne one for an example: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/afl-rebooted-melbourne.858647/

Why not make it Australia wide? Just use country towns or search for towns with populations under a certain number. Each week alternates between the different states (starting with Queensland for which this comp started)I would like to help out.
Nah, Australia is boring. The same designs get churned out each time. Lets do somewhere different like Europe. Why not make it Australia wide? On Saturday 22nd June 2013 while playing football for South Barwon in Geelong Casey suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury. After collecting the football he pushed through a pack colliding head first into the stomach of an opposition player. Following impact he flopped to the ground and was unable to move below the shoulders, Casey was conscious throughout the entire incident calling for help and commenting that he could not move or feel his body. The game was stopped by umpires, paramedics were called and Casey was transported to the Geelong hospital. He received X-rays and MRI scans at the hospital which revealed that he had fully dislocated and fractured his C4 and C5 vertebrae. Casey was induced into a coma and air lifted to Melbournes Austin hospital where he was operated on immediately. The operation was successful in realigning his spinal column, fusing his fourth and fifth vertebrae and pinning the fractured bones together. Unfortunately as a result of the dislocation and fracture Casey also severely damaged his spinal cord.
Ahh what?2 hours 3 mins!
