Do I actually have to put numbers down. I thought all you have to do is get your name ticked off. Like I could write an essay on the ballot form instead of writing down numbers.

True, once you get your name ticked off and receive the ballot papers you avoid the fine. But really its not much of a protest to put in an invalid vote, it just looks like you are too stupid to fill it out properly (not that I am saying you would be). Really though, if there genuinely is a smaller party that you want to have your vote then vote properly so your party can get your $2.31, and really think long and hard about who is the 'least bad option' in regards to the larger parties.

The ironic thing is that I am studying Economics and Politics at uni.

I'm from a hardcore Liberal family that basically equates anything Labor to Soviet Russia. But after studying economics for a couple of years I have to say with inflation low, gdp growth acceptable, unemployment relatively good, interest rates low (good as an aspirant first home buyer), the dollar falling finally (good for me working in the export market of tourism), sustainability improving with energy usage falling, a AAA credit rating, tax receipts to GDP ratio lower under the ALP than under Coalition's last government, and cost of living actually increasing at a much much slower rate that under Howard, I have to preference the ALP above Liberal (already voted and put a minor party first, not the greens dont worry). I see the economic debate framed purely in term of the deficit, yet basic Keynesian economics suggests the government did the right thing by stepping into the void left by a struggling private sector. And those who say government should operate like a business and live within its means are idiotic, the very reason we have a government is because the private sector cannot provide everything we need to maximise our living standards. The government is not in the business of making a profit, in economic terms it is there to help maximise living standards and provide of the good of all society not just those who can buy themselves into comfort. Once taxation revenue recovers and gdp goes from acceptable levels to strong levels we will see the debt being paid off as treasury anticipates. I'm no greenie, leftie, treehugger but I see what this government has actually done (not the politics around it) and see a very good story to tell. But that's just me, and I'm probably cherry picking facts. But I like to look at the macro view and these facts are being ignored and it annoys the hell out of me. Either the mainstream media doesn't care or I've got no idea about economics...the longer things go on the more I doubt myself sadly.

tl;dr
we are the envy of the world. Abbott has talked down the economy purely for political gain, not for the betterment of Australia's economy. Why vote in someone who believes that the budget bottom line is the ultimate measurement of an economy instead of jobs and economic growth?

NM Design should change his username to Ken The Voting Dingo
Whaaaa?

If I were to vote for anyone, it would be Kev. At least he is somewhat presentable. Don't get me wrong, they are both absolute d***heads. But Tony is, well... Not who I'd want representing the country.

I have a bit of time on my hands with no stress/drama (rare thing over the past year), so I was going through some of the threads again. I ran across this (which I voted for, and which won the Sydney comp):

SydneyClashCopy_zpsa12db065.png

The reason I posted is to make a suggestion. This is one of the most original, most professionally executed designs I've seen. And it got me to wondering: Why don't we have a hall of fame on the FGD board?

If we did, the criteria would have to be high, so that not every good design was included, just the outstanding ones.

Maybe something like this: One thread for HOF suggestions (nominations). Each nominee then would get a different thread for a vote, either yes or no. Then if it met the standard (say, 75% yes, or something like that, with a standard time limit for the vote for each nominee), there would be another thread, the FGDHOF thread, where each of the inductee designs would be featured.

Thoughts?

If so, E92_ should go straight in without a vote because of the #returnthewings campaign.

I meant original designs, not necessarily designers. That might lead to some hurt feelings. I was thinking just as a way to highlight the best designs for the sake of people who visit the board. :)

I reckon it should be a Hall of Fame ie:
- Username
- Year, Month inducted
- What they did (can be a design, but doesn't have to be)

So first up I'd have
Mero - 2013 September - www.footyjumpers.com
E92_ - 2013 September - #returnthewings campaign
ScottFreo - 2013 September - Sydney Swans "Bloods" clash jumper design *insert pic*
