My whole Facebook news feed on Facebook is full of people with no idea about politics calling Tony Abbott a "fa*ot" and a "shit c*nt". My generation is great

My feed is full of people who do know about politics saying similar, just is more witty and less profanity filled ways.

and as one shared;

Learn about Port Adelaide's bad relationship with the SANFL and learn about our commitment to football at a community level. PAFC Academy and so on. We're more than just the Power. We're more than just the Magpies. We're a whole community.

But to a national audience we're just "Port Power". And you can see why it upsets us. When someone says we're not one club. It hurts. We do so much as a club. All of our teams - the underage sides to the AFL side - are Port Adelaide. I mean, the Power have had heaps of positive coverage this year (only outside of SA - for some reason the SA media are dead set against everything we do). But the PAFC hasn't.

Ugh I just love this club and you guys should too.

How can anyone love Port excluding Port supporters ;)

So the way Im reading this is:
PA is merging everything under one name, but they'll have different divisions (for lack of a better term) which are named as either Power or Magpies.

Similar to a business where it is split into Operations, Marketing, Finance and Human Resources the Port "business" shall be in two sections

Is what I'm saying correct? Or have I read this wrong?

What?

It clearly says the Port Adelaide Football club are changing their colours to purple and grey.

Sort of. That technically that happened in 2010, when we (Power est 1870) 'absorbed' the Magpies (est 1996). But there's been a change in structure... allow me to explain...

Basically what happened is that the other SANFL clubs despise us so much that they were going to kick us out of the league. Literally. They hate us. So our CEO (Keith Thomas) had to negotiate, negotiate and negotiate to work out a deal......

Meanwhile, the Crows decided they really wanted a reserves team. So, their CEO (Steven Trigg), after coming back from his 6 month suspension for deliberately breaching salary cap rules, asked the SANFL if they could have one. The SANFL said "yeah, but you have to follow these certain stipulations". And these certain stipulations include paying 400k per year to the clubs of the SANFL and also that players cannot be rested or have optional surgery to protect the integrity of the SANFL. It doesn't make any sense at all and it's just a shit sandwich. But Trigg is the most incompetent administrator in the entire world and agreed to it anyway......

And basically Keith Thomas (Port CEO) wanted a Power reserves team as well (although we'd be asking for one for years but kept getting denied because the SANFL don't like us)....

uh, um, it's a huge whole complicated issue btu basically:

What we have now:
- Power (AFL)
- Magpies (SANFL, SANFL reserves, SANFL U18's, SANFL U16's etc)
- Most of our AFL listed players don't play for the Magpies in the SANFL because the SANFL hate us

What we're going to ahve:
- Power (AFL)
- Magpies (SANFL) as Power reserves where all AFL listed players play for the one club, rather than spread across the entire SANFL. But we ahve serious salary cap restrictions and some other tidbits
- Magpies (SAAFL [amateur league in SA] U18,s U16's, etc)
- Academy for elite junior talent

We also lose all our SANFL zones but the academy allows us to have an unlimited zone if you think about it.

Cheers for that. That actually clears it up a bit now
