I was faction captain in Year 7. May as well have been God.

Well um. Yep. How does that even happen?

I was Deputy Head Boy in year 12. The first one in the history of my school (which admittedly has a sort history).

I didn't make the honours board, yet the year boy and girl did. I wasn't happy.
Of course, you were only a deputy :)

I don't know if my name is on the honour board at my old primary school. Probably is, but it might be a bit weird to go back and visit it.

Is live export really as bad as it's made out to be?

My sisters current boyfriend is into all these anti live export groups and doesn't eat certain products and the like. Is it all for real? Or is the story slightly twisted?
I think the main issue a lot of people have with live export is that the animal's throats are slit so that their meat can be certified as Halal as Islamic law requires. So it's a bit of a religious issue that can be tough to sort out. Apparently a lot of those animals are stunned before their throats are slit so it's not so bad on them. Most animals are killed after being stunned and then having large blood vessels severed even if they aren't halal. And when I say stunned I do mean unconscious after a cattle gun or electric shock to the head. Then there's the issues with many animals dying while they're being shipped around. It's a lot to do with personal choice really. I'm perfectly fine with the way a lot of animals are killed to become delicious meat, but I do agree that the conditions in some places where the animals are taken to do need to be heavily improved.

I think he was a genius writer who managed to suck a lot of people in with some brilliant trolls and when he was being serious people just got annoyed and bit back and gave him what he wanted a lot.

A lot of people I know are avoiding anything to do with halal certification. Doesn't bother me either way to be honest. I agree with you though, some of the conditions animals are left in are atrocious. Won't be boycotting meat or anything. But standards do need to be set and maintained.

I liked Silent Alarm but I had a crack at him a couple of times because his style of writing was often incredibly condescending.

Eventually I realised he didn't mean any harm, it's just how he is. A bit of a figjam. His sign off there is pretty standard fare.

I rather liked him. Purely because of a chat we had when I was a newbie on here. He may have been a bit arrogant and so on in his views. But I think it takes guts to have anything other then the "accepted opinion" on most things these days. So kudos for that Silent Alarm.

He'll be back sooner or later. I just hope that he left for a legitimate reason and not for attention when he does return.

Genius writer is a stretch. He was an above average wordsmith (by the standard of an internet forum) who thought he was Tribey.

Quite often I agreed with his opinions, and even if I didn't, it's not strong or divergent opinions that I have a problem with, it's being a total w***er when you're expressing them. This board needs people like Silent Alarm around, in general.

ftr the most recent time I had a crack at him about the way he posts can be found here:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threa...med-merch-in-op.1035349/page-14#post-32019862

The last paragraph of that post (forgetting about the fact that he was quoting me and arguing a different point from the one I was making) is some of the most ridiculous patronising figjam wank i've ever read on BigFooty and I regret playing the ball and not the man on that one.
