U.S. foe Iran, which accuses the United States and its allies of creating Islamic State, was dismissive. Information Minister Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi, tweeted: “Not a big deal, You just killed your creature”.

The truly creepy thing about this is the way HTS are being painted as some sort of good guys who "helped".

There is no difference between them and ISIS beyond the name.

It's like pretending Carlton are grouse but Essendon sucks. They're both horrible.

The Iranians know that Daesh were intended to be the stormtroopers when they got invaded.

Next we will be hearing about the brave White Helmets.

They are all as complicit as each other, Assad included.

Except Assad doesn't want to exterminate minorities like the Christians and Yazidis.

They were writing "Christians to Beirut, Alawites to the grave" in the first days of the protests.

I'm not pretending Assad is a good guy, but in the greater scheme of things, you'd prefer his Syria to what the jihadists tried to turn it into.

Of course he didn't but he had no issues exterminating the majority with barrel bombs, families missing and taken by the makoubarat and never returned or those who were severely tortured or even killed.

Factions* of the Syrian population wanted it. Most wanted the end of his rule.

"Asha3ab youreed escat alnitham"

Assad will do for now but there needs to be a time that he needs to go. This iron fist rule under this Baathist regime is for the tip.

It may be for the tip; but with Iran backing them, and now Russia. That group are in for the long haul.

Betraying the Kurds and their withdrawl will have real world consequences for the forseeable future.

Russia are the big winners here. They have a foothold in the ME. Turkey look on them as an honest broker, which will result in access to the Med Sea for their Black Sea fleet via the Dardanelles. Putin must thank his lucky stars for Trump every night before he goes to bed.

Here’s another campaign of political persecution using the legal system to shut down our factual investigative journalism. Max Blumenthal from the grey zone is actually one of the better reporters around. it’s a sad day when people like this are being locked up in the USA.

but he still should get he’s head out of the way and just report the news, don’t become the news.

Interesting how when Extinction Rebellion were just blocking commuters, the cops were relatively chilled.

You start blocking mining and fossil fuel executives from a conference, out come the batons and capsicum spray.

Some with Thunberg, when she was just encouraging kids to go on strike on Fridays, no threat.

When she starts talking about the need to fundamentally re-order our economies, out come the attack dogs.

You’re right, that is interesting 🤔

Can’t believe the amount of people that are angry at people protesting in Australia. Today a random said to me “They shouldn’t be allowed to do it, they should be locked up”...after a news report about the protesters. Honestly don’t think people realise how lucky we are to live in a country where you’re allowed to protest.
