Can’t believe the amount of people that are angry at people protesting in Australia. Today a random said to me “They shouldn’t be allowed to do it, they should be locked up”...after a news report about the protesters. Honestly don’t think people realise how lucky we are to live in a country where you’re allowed to protest.

I remember when it first came out that you wrote something along the lines of "I'll have to find another route to work". Not a word of how it would affect you personally - just that you acknowledged this is something they would do and you would have to find another option. It stuck with me. I think it's a good attitude to have even if you don't fully agree with their opinion or the way they protest.

Chile and Lebanon have shown the power of mass resistance, but I hope they don't stop until the entire political system has been flipped on its head. Any system where to extract decent concessions from your government, you have to hit the streets, get shot at, beaten, killed, etc. is not one that is genuine about those concessions. They'll accede to some demands, preserve their power, and then rinse/repeat in a decade.
