I've just spent the day doing property protection a couple of valleys east of here, just behind Nimbin actually. In rainforest. Its incredibly rare that valley burns. It gets some of the highest rainfall in NSW, well used to. The weather is good (for a drought) at the moment but if the predicted easterlies do their absolute worst it'll be here by the end of the week. Probably only a very slim chance of that.

We protected a couple of places on a property and the kids who grew up there used to ride horses with my missus before I met her. I don't think she's seen them since high school. Except briefly maybe.

I got home about half an hour ago and its smokier here than it was when we left the fire ground but nothing is burning for miles.
