India only really have a problem with Muslims. They’re moving away from the secular political system instigated by Ghandhi and through Modi are headed for the type of setup Savarkar was pushing. It would be a step backwards considering how far India has come over the last 70 years or so.

Different Gandhi family. But Indira Nerhu (later Gandhi) was a kid hanging out with Mahatma Gandhi during the independence movement. She married an unrelated Gandhi later on. Her dad was the first indian PM, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was a protege of the Gandhi.

The fallout is still happening now.

There was an incident a few years ago where Sikh holy books were desecrated and the government protected the people responsible. Before that it was something else. All against the context of a Sikh nationalist, separatist movement that isn't popular but is big enough to gain respect and does have direct ties to the anti imperialist movements of British rule. Which is like the Indian political dreamtime in terms of its mythological power and ability to make claims on peoples identities.

Yep. The full 45-minute interview from him is a real eye-opener. Leaving a professor to be attacked by students and admin...disgrace. Glad the school has taken such a bad wrap for it and attendance has dropped off. There were a couple of filmed incidents which could have turned very very bad - just lucky Bret is a calm person. The police did him no favours either. One of his students got jumped cutting through the school one night too.

Sadly it won't be the last this happens at universities. Already academic numbers have dropped in favour of admin staff. Turning uni/colleges into friendly support groups instead of places to learn.

Galveston Texas police department is coming under fire after an image was leaked - showing mounted police officers marching a black man down the street by a rope.
The Black man in this case was suspected of trespassing. The police handcuffed him, tied a rope to his handcuffs like an animal and marched him down the street.
According to the Galveston Texas police department the officers did this because there was no transportation unit available at the time.
Their official statement:

In a press release posted on Facebook Monday, the police department identified the suspect as Donald Neely. He was arrested for trespassing on Saturday, and a transportation unit was not immediately available at the time of the arrest so the officers escorted him to the Mounted Patrol Unit staging area in this manner.
