The US was about to have a fracking bust that would rival (some say dwarf) the GFC. It'll come quicker now. It was considered $50 per barrel was a enough to keep shale cracking financially viable, the reality is probably closer to $70 and right now the price is closer to $30.

I think the shale industry carries between $250 and $300 billion in debt.
