Alot of that stuff is already in place.
This could be used as an excuse to make it overt.

There's an old saying about totalitarian societies needing the word total cos they won't happen without significant agreement from most of the population.
Yep and you know you have an agreement from the population when people decide to snitch on one another.

Or not.

It seemed to me he gave up without a fight and is going onto a much more lucrative line of work. Selling "health" products to gullible hicks (of one variety or another.)

Is he even a reasearcher? If this guy was good enough he'd be getting work in the private sector or overseas. Is he even a researcher? My reading of that article is not that he was denied a spot but that he didn't even bother.

I know people who went overseas cos of the lack of research investment generally and PC attitude to Climate Change during the 90s and early 00s under a particular government.

As shit as the politics of that was those were good enough to get work and that's cos they were good. How is this any different. Just shit politics same as always.

Speaking of which...

Below that article are a bunk (that's an autocorrect typo but it seems reasonable,) of articles about the Democrats or Minneapolis giving "coronavirus aid to illegal aliens", a bunch of other Republican bullshit propaganda and a bunch of articles about why some chic still wears kids bikinis.

IMO that website has less cred than the gay frog guy.

There's not a great deal of work in the private sector for spider researchers.

He was following the well-worn academic career path of getting a PhD in something interesting and valid, but not necessarily opening up the career opportunities spectrum. My scan of the article suggests he sent 150 applications (his decade of experience places him well to target those universities with a department that would employ in his field) and got under 10% hit rate in the form of phone interviews and then zero in follow-up interviews. That just doesn't happen to career academics with a PhD. No, there's something else going on here.

It's possible that he's just a prick of a bloke, of course, and that is a reputation that would precede him (though it's usually not necessarily a black mark in academia, in my experience).

The stuff below is irrelevant to the article, it is the usual clickbait rubbish you see everywhere.

Yes, stating biological facts. Biological facts are now dismissed throughout many spheres of academia.

If this spirals out of control then it will lead to the extinction of the human race.
Of course it will.

Its the greatest threat humanity has ever faced.

The Daily Caller is pretty shit tho. Its renowned for dumb**** propaganda.

Now I'm gonna have to reread it to see if he did send applications.

It's an extreme extrapolation, but nonetheless it's true.

Try to imagine a world that over time via gradual academic censorship eventually statutorily enforced the denial of biological facts?

The end game is extinction. No question.

No it isn't.

Well maybe...

Climate change research, was and still is in the same boat and there is very real chance that another century of inaction on climate change will cause the extinction of humanity.

So maybe you have a point.

Yeah.

It does say 150 applications.

But given its the Daily Caller there at least a 50% chance they just made it up.

Some of these fads/challenges/whatever you want to call them coming out of COVID-19 are kinda annoying tbh, but I'm wondering if we can draft this woman to take over Lachie Hansen's role of doing silly things on the mark to put off the opposition when kicking at goal:

If the human race ever does become extinct, then sadly, we probably deserve it

This is pretty cool

It is cool. Not sure it's happening here, though. Went for the exercise walk with my daughter yesterday in the Quarries Park / Dight Falls area and it was as busy as Bourke St Mall the week before Christmas. We normally have the area pretty much to ourselves.

It’s strange isn’t it. Watch the news and you’d think we’re on lockdown, go outside and it’s like nothing has changed (except the closed restaurants and pubs)

Must have a good source at Vic police

Yep. It is interesting watching VicPol apply their methods to someone from establishment for once.

People in the northern Indian state of Punjab are reacting with awe at the sight of the Himalayan mountain range, which is now visible from more than 100 miles away due to the reduction in air pollution caused by the country's coronavirus lockdown.
Indians in the city of Jalandhar and the surrounding area have posted photos online of the views from their homes, with some saying they haven't seen the peaks of the Himalayas for decades.

There is no evidence that planned parenthood is or ever was based on eugenics. There is no evidence that Margaret Sanger believed in eugenics. You have taken one misinterpreted quote. Your whole thesis is based on putting two and two together and getting seven.

"The third are those irresponsible and reckless ones having little regard for the consequence of their acts, or whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers. Many of this group are diseased, feeble-minded, and are of the pauper element dependent entirely upon the normal and fit members of society for their support. There is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped. For if they are not able to support and care for themselves, they should certainly not be allowed to bring offspring into this world for others to look after. We do not believe that filling the earth with misery, poverty and disease is moral. And it is our desire and intention to carry on our crusade until the perpetuation of such conditions has ceased.

We desire to stop at its source the disease, poverty and feeble-mindedness and insanity which exist today, for these lower the standards of civilization and make for race deterioration."

- Margaret Sanger. Speech: The Morality of Birth Control. D
elivered 18 November 1921, Park Theatre, NY

Imagine a white woman coming out in today's world saying that poor people should stop breeding :drunk:

Those views were not overly controversial in 1921. To draw a line from that to the current day to imply that Bill Gates' involvement in the Gates Foundation and his initiatives around vaccination are based on eugenics is la la land stuff.
