He should start a YouTube channel aimed at middle America and Queenslanders. He’d make a killing.

He's about ten years too late on that one, it is a crowded marketplace now.

Where do you think he cuts and pastes this stuff from?

It isn't original material.

cut and pasting is all journalists do. Original content is something you've never created in your life.

It wouldn't be hard to do because surprisingly the truth and independent media market lacks people with a solid education, skill in research and sourcing information/evidence, and a background in public speaking. But why shoot for the sky when you can aim for the stars? I'm aiming to be Prime Minister of Australia one day.

Looks like we're f'ed then!
And there I was thinking that Steve Jobs was Satans spawn but it was Gatesy all along!
Same here.

I just realised I'm using a Surface Laptop with Windows...

Unless you play video games you should’ve switched to Linux years ago.
Yeah, I've really dropped the ball on the tech front over the last decade. Not a gamer or anything and have gone the cheap route and used whatever work gives me.

I'm trying to do a udemy coding course in my spare time so it might be time to start researching all the ins and outs and maybe even try and make a computer from scratch. Only issue is I'm not autistic so I'm bound to stuff up somewhere along the lines and they're the only ones that become coding wizards.

You haven’t dropped the ball you’ve sold your soul to the corporations.

building PCs aren’t that hard anymore with sites like PC parts picker, I think it’s something everyone should do at least once in their life.
I also think moving into the future every kid should learn to code. It should be taught among math and english and sports as a prerequisite. As boring as it is, it’ll become more and more important when trying to fix basic things.

That crypto patent is specifically for monitoring people before paying them. IE it's an automatic surveillance system for workplaces. It'd probably work well with a variation on this tho:

I agree 100% with that. coding a must. I've needed to move from using SPSS to R just to keep up. Excel to Tableau. I also think learning the adobe suite is important so you can use photoshop, premiere pro, after effects is important so you're not resigned to just being a backend developer.

Of course. All working as one. People have wanted interoperability for some time. A lot of moving parts in that space. Especially if you consider democrats push for a stable coin cryptocurrency and Libra too. Gates providing the ability to track people and that tying in with governments wanting to track money.

They will incentivise these so people want them. Libra paying you to use facebook etc. they will do it to kids in gaming spheres too.

There really needs to be a push back for people wanting decentralisation without the middle man because if places start banning cash (like we've seen with covid19 and democrats saying they want to get rid of physical cash because the disease risk and spinning it as them looking out for our safety :drunk: ) and making it hard to use cryptocurrencies like Monero our purchasing freedom will be gone. That is exactly why at the G20 summit in 2018 they spoke about cryptocurrencies and they still refuse to be clear on if they will be free to use for everyday purchases. Until that time they aren't that useful (for day to day) because of the tax implications (not to mention people just buying and holding because of the promise of riches vs. using them as intended and thus reducing adoption across the globe). You better believe Visa and mastercard types and banks are greasing the right wheels too. Everyone wants their slice of the pie and we are getting stifled at every corner.

Feck adobe off..
the moment they went to a cloud service meant artists have to pay to access their work.

Photoshop use gimp photo editor
Premier pro use DaVinci Resolve
After Effects use Blackmagic Design Fusion(which is built into Resolve)

The equivalents are free and actually shit on adobe products, and BlackMagic is an Australian company. Win win win!

But I get them for free and I've just learnt how to use them / trying to improve.

A mate in VFX always tries to get me to use Fusion but it seems more suited for that field vs. presenting / website building etc. which is what I'm more concerned with. If I was going to make a you-beaut movie or game then maybe others like fusion.

Adobe has better UI for most of their programs too.

Your mate in VFX is not an idiot...

It’ll be a bit more of a learning curve but you won’t regret shifting from a layer based system to a node.
It’ll save you hours of headaches in the long run. because you’ll have access to the whole flow of data.

with after effects what you change in one layer is set and will affects what happens downstream.

all I can say try it out for a couple of weeks, don’t give up because it looks daunting.

Groin guru, what he said.

It's just a more advanced form of Lego really. I built mine last year and isn't as hard as I thought.

Re coding, I've developed basic SQL skills, but want to do more of the visual stuff. Getting into Power BI, but we had a consultant with us for a few months who was really good with Tableau, but you need a license?

I just know it'll take me 12 months of research to decide on all the parts (took me 3 months to pull the trigger on a fridge :drunk:) but the other positive is that it seems like a way to learn all the ins and outs of each piece. Something that would be really helpful long-term.

Tableau - I had a participant come in a few years ago and he was a data scientist and he raved about Tableau so I looked into it and it has been really helpful for visuals and data exploration.

I'm pretty sure it's only license based. I always try to keep attached to a uni so I have free access to programs like Tableau, the adobe suite, and journal databases because I know they try and charge you an arm and a leg and the cost/benefit ratio isn't worth it.

When I did a udemy course they stressed the importance of file and layer management to avoid issues.

Peter McKinnon (youtube) also had a few helpful pointers on that topic but you are right it's something that has caught me out a few times when using after effects. One time I was about an hour off finishing something and I got pissed off and went back to it the following day.

I'll get there but right now it always seems like you're playing catch up just because of the vast array of programs out there these days. You learn one thing and someone says "nah, don't use SPSS, use R, it's better" - gotcha. "nah don't use excel...use Tableau" - no problem. "don't use wix or a pre-set web builder...use Wordpress and learn to make your own" - good idea that seems useful.

Nor is it particularly entertaining.
Be a pretty bland life if entertainment was based on one individual viewpoint.

No shock that the 2 biggest egos on this board and proponents of "if you don't agree with my train of thought you're wrong" (you and JLG) would take issue with that post.

As I said originally, I have a problem with a model that makes someone pay to access their work.
For instance if you have someone who makes videos occasionally for clients, maybe one or two a year. If they want to go back and fix something up 12 months down the track. They’ll have to pay another $50 to adobe for the privilege.

Same thing is happening with accounting software, Xero and MYOB. The more accounts you have the more pay.

I guess the lesson here is don’t give away your data for a nice user interface, it’ll bite you in the arse in the long run.

but the other thing is once you’ve learnt one program and the workflows. it’s quiet easy to shift between them. You just have to figure out the short cut keys.
