Anyone else got coaching experience?

This year I’m playing coach for a senior men’s soccer team.

Jingos, talk about a learning curve.

All it takes is one player to act the berk to fu** everything up.
Coached a girls regional rep. soccer team. Some parents thought it was the Premier League. Jeepers, most opposition coaches did too.

A very good drink that the girls seemed to love 🤔😉😋

Was having a few beers on Wednesday evening with a few of the neighbours in the bar down the road. Luckily we managed to have a table booked for the last night before lockdown but that is by the by. As it does the chat turned to the footy and a few interesting assertions were made. One falls into the category of good mail and the others could have some merit or be nothing more than the footy rumour mill.

Assertion 1 (Good mail - neighbour is a family friend)
We have Barry Stoneham and Michael Mansfield to thank for getting Leigh Colbert to North. The word is they were so unhappy about Colbert being named captain at Geelong that they ran a campaign to make his life a living hell down there. This included pressuring Colbert to invest with Mansfields broking business only to see his funds completely wiped through deliberate dud investments. Couldn't wait to get out of the joint.

Assertion 2
That Dane Beams struggled with a gambling addiction I think is a pretty poorly kept secret. The discussion on Wednesday night was that this resulted in very substantial debt and led to bikies turning up to Brisbane training looking to collect. The further discussion was that as part of the deal to entice Beams from Brisbane back to Collingwood Eddie personally paid the debt and was/is garnishing Beams' pay packet for repayment. Where does that fit with the salary cap?

Assertion 3
Jayden Stephenson has also run up a substantial gambling debt. Said to have clicked over into seven figures.

Assertion 4
Steele Sidebottom had been on the nose beers on the night of his quarantine indiscretion and the self-reporting and 4-week ban were a deal brokered with the AFL to avoid a strike. It was also suggested that it would no way have been his first strike.

All good, Just seemed you were very knowledgeable on the subject, so thought I’d ask.
Mainly deterrence for the reasons you stated, one shiite is stolen it’s pointless.
Thank you anyway 👍 that actually is pretty good and gives me some ideas 👍

So you reckon sirens are a better option?
Depends on what you’re trying to stop, sirens will only help if you’ve got diligent neighbours.

The beauty of ifttt(if that than this) Is you can make everyday simple electronics do things for you. For instance if you had a motion sensor go off you could trigger a smart power point to turn the TV on and send you a text message to get home.

a crim casing out the place might see the tv on and think, someone’s home, not worth it. You could change it to turn on a lamp at night, or trigger a speaker to start barking like a dog. add a sign on the fence, beware of dog and most walk byes, would keep walking. Although it wouldn’t help much if you think you’ll be robbed by someone who’s been inside your house.
To setup ifttt all you need to to have a server, something as simple as a nas drive running at home, to control it all.

The bikies and Dayne Beams one sounds oddly like a rehash of the Gibbs rumour that was floating around a couple years ago, that they turned up to Adelaide training after he'd left Victoria due to debts to the bikies

some indians can, there are haywards and kingfisher beers in india that are well over 6 percent. remember one of the first evenings i was drinking in a permit room and blew the froff of a couple of kingfisher reds, the old cheeks were already getting rosey, at that point i figured the beer was rather strong, thats when i checked the label and realized i was drinking the stronger version of the local beer.

WA wildlife manager Jewell Crossberg sacked

UPDATE: Mark McGowan has backed the calls of animal activists who want Jewell Crossberg — the man who shared photos of himself posing armed next to dead safari animals in Africa — totally removed from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction.
Animal Justice Team spokesperson Grant Stewart said Mr Crossberg should be shifted to a different agency after the former Parks and Wildlife Esperance district manager was stripped of his acting managerial role yesterday.
“He should not be employed by any department which has the welfare of animals as one of its programs,” Mr Stewart said.

Mr McGowan said his preference too would have been to sack Mr Crossberg altogether and backed shifting him out of the conservation agency and into a different government department.
“(Moving Mr Crossberg) is an internal matter and it may well be that's what happens,” Mr McGowan said.
He said stripping Mr Crossberg of his managerial role was “better than nothing” but that he remained dissatisfied with the outcome.
“I am constrained by employment law as to what can be done but what they've done so far, or what's happened so far, I'm not very happy with,” he said.
“The sorts of things he's done in his past, I think I'd speak on behalf of everyone in saying they were depraved and disgusting and disgraceful.”
The Premier also blasted the department over its failure to thoroughly vet Mr Crossberg’s past before hiring him.
“Clearly, clearly they should have. I'm pretty annoyed at them to be honest with you.”
The former Parks and Wildlife Esperance district manager came under fire shortly after his July 1 promotion to the role when it emerged his Facebook page included photos of himself, taken a decade ago, posing next to dead zebras, rhinos, giraffes and elephants in South Africa.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions initially resisted pressure to remove Mr Crossberg from his position, releasing a statement last Friday saying it had “reviewed the employment history of Mr Jewell Crossberg, and has determined that his appointment in 2017 was done in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act 1994.”
That prompted Environment Minister Stephen Dawson to intervene an order a second review, with DBCA subsequently announcing Mr Crossberg had been stood down from his managerial position this morning.
The West Australian was this morning told Mr Crossberg would continue to work at the conservation agency, despite “images published in the media last week”, which “are not reflective of the department’s values”.
It remains unclear whether his new position is the role Mr Crossberg he was first hired for by the department in 2017, when he became an operations officer in the Goldfields and Kimberley.

The US Government filed its brief in response to Mr Kareem’s appeal last evening, asserting that the need to preserve “state secrets” trumps a US citizen’s constitutional right to life

I'm so glad the US is there to be a bastion of human rights and decency against socialists, Muslims, journos and other forces of evil.

Watched it tonight. Made our performance look disgraceful by comparison. At least Carlton can pin point their kicks and have confidence to get it into the corridor
