Jeremy Clarkson has written a column in which he says that God is embarrassed by Australia “because he has decided to set fire to it”.

In the column for The Sun, Clarkson says that “God didn’t want people to live in Australia” and suggests Australian residents “come home”.

“You’ll like it. It never stops raining. And we are better at sport,” he writes.
Probably a fraction too soon

There was a doco by Lewis Fitzgerald from the early 90’s (that in hindsight was well before it’s time in style) The Last Man Hanged that featured all of the key players who were still alive and it has stayed with me since; bottom line is that when it comes to capital punishment there is no going back should the said person later be found not guilty or have their conviction muddied with doubt

Further to the previous, the political point scoring over bushfires makes me physical ill.

You know what campaigners?

People have lost properties, families have lost love ones, animals have been wiped out.

And you campaigners sit there and espouse how it’s not your responsibility for ensuring that this shouldn’t happen?

And then it’s left to the generosity of the public to band together to help those most affected. If it’s good enough for an American singer to donate 500k, then it’s sure as shit appropriate for those elected by the very same people who are affected, to do whatever they have to do, money wise, to help.

Indeed. Excellent post. There's people out there who equate political advertising with empathy. It's anything but that.

Character is in short supply these days.
