Yeah I guess, but in terms of context for wastage, the $30bn spent on the DeSal plant by Bracksy (which we still haven’t really used) which costs $608m per year to manage is right up there.

I can’t comprehend why anyone wouldn’t want E/W built, surely its better to spend $10bn on something than $1bn on nothing.

The point is both parties are equally useless and corrupt and we, the occasional taxpayer are always the ones who lose out in the end.
You’re right, we should demand the police do something about The corpution. I’m sure guys like Simon Overland will be honest enough to investigate. :p

Pretty sure he was planning minister and has a lot to do with all the shitty buildings around Melbourne

Correct weight.

Developers knew even in the unlikely even that local councils or VCAT didn't allow them free passage, this overgrown penile tissue would just clear the path for whatever unnecessary oversized eyesore they dreamt up.

I’m not saying we don’t need the road. I’m saying it was wrong to sign off on it just before an election when Labour was saying they would not be building the road. It was actually one of their policies they were running on because the E/W wasn’t and still isn’t very popular.

My point is Matthew Guy signed off on it knowing that the Liberals were going to lose (it was very obvious at the time) purely to give Labour the middle finger and destroying his political career in doing so.

Matthew Guy sitting down with one of the most powerful organised crime figures in the country, probably only second to whoever runs the Australian ops end for Tsi Che Lop is what screwed his career.

I was just reading his wiki page. Man it’s a shitshow. He only knocked back 1 building, that was in Albert Park and was going to block the views of some wealthy people who hold sway in the Liberal Party.

Because it isn't needed, its old tech, it doesn't scale up, it would have made the area where I live and socialise shit, it would have eaten up public land, and there are no long lasting benefits.

The whole we "already spent" $1bn so lets waste another $9bn more is the equivalent of saying well Mason Wood has a year left on hios contracdt and we've already paid him a fair bit, let's sign him for another five anyway.

Stupido. Makes no sense.

The tacky retro lobster cave hasn’t changed in 20 years.. still a classic, although if the meeting went unnoticed probably would’ve made his career with the unions.
I’ve got a sneaky suspicion his meeting was leaked by Tony.

Nah, Guy's own side knifed him there.

Sunk cost fallacy. Plus the public voted for the guy who's not going to build it at 2 elections.

And considering all the trouble Westgate tunnel has gone through I can't imagine the link tunnel costing any less than 20b.

And by the time it's finished we'll need something completely different anyway. Same as this NBN model.

I think people are going to be surprised by the improvements brought in by removing level crossings and the metro tunnel if it ever gets completed. Reducing short trips by improving public transport is the way forward in my eyes.

Also had a laugh that he backfliped on a development on Phillip Island because Miley Cyrus cracked the shits about it.

In September 2011 Matthew Guy, overruled Bass Coast Shire and rezoned a 5.7-hectare farming property at Ventnor, Phillip Island, from farmland into the township making it available for development.[9]The rezoning decision was unpopular with one hundred submissions calling for the town boundaries to be retained while only one submission from the developers supporting the rezoning.[9]Opposition to the rezoning included American singer Miley Cyrus who tweeted to her 2.5 million followers that "Phillip Island is such a magical place, it would be a shame to see it change".[10]

Days later, Guy reversed his decision, advising the Bass Coast Mayor, Veronica Dowman, that he had changed his mind

The land was owned by Liberal Party doners, who (if I remember correctly) then commenced legal proceedings against Guy due to projected loss of income as they'd bought the land in the understanding that it would be re-zoned and then developed at (obviously) a ridiculous profit.

Guy is the worst of the worst.

Fisherman's Bend. Say no more.

Unfortunately his change of heart was done on the condition he got to reenact the Wrecking Ball clip.

Is there any kind of insider trading laws that apply to land zoning?

Someone would end up getting Epsteined before that sort of shit came out.

IBAC and Ombudsman can look at it. They may well already be with Philip Island stuff.
