She’s so fake. Pretended to be a person of colour, pretended her father was a janitor, pretended her kids went to public school, although it’s kind of petty stuff the list is pretty long. The Internet hasn’t been good for her. You can’t get away with being fake if you’re going to try to be the president of America.

But you certainly can get away with being FAKE - just not “lower case” fake. Hence, my point about “low level”. In this day and age complete shits are preferred over minor shits. Is that a good thing? Maybe, it is.

That’s an interesting point. Maybe people can relate to simple indiscretions more? The more complex the issue the harder it is for the average punter to relate to? People can see the sneakiness I spose. It’s not hidden away in some top level corporate shenanigans, which she probably also has working in bankrupting companies.

IIRC she had something to do with the company that sold dodgy ladies sanitary items...they got banned in the US because they were causing a lot of harm. Instead of destroying them the company sent them to third world countries to make some money.

Whoever goes up against Trump needs to be squeaky clean or not give a shit like him. Look what they did to Hillary.

It’s a bit of a Catch-22 for the Dems in my opinion. Trump has cornered the market on the acceptable overt complete and utter amoral bastard side of things. There can be only one of him. Fighting fire with fire, most likely, won’t work. On the other hand a squeaky clean Dem would undoubtedly be destroyed by Trump’s larger than life personality. Biden is, probably, on balance, going to be their only option for a fairly respectable loss. They can regroup and challenge post-Trump. Sanders is likeable but I can’t see him happening in the good old US of A. Warren is a bit of a wildcard, in my view. I don’t believe she’ll win but she’s the only one who I could see toppling Trump - in a way. It’s a rapidly changing world these days, as we all know.

After the Clinton loss, the democrats should’ve been concentrating on policy. Yet they decided to protect Clinton at all costs, from the wikileaks bombshells, they managed to create a red scare in the process, that myth fell apart.
Now instead of concentrating on getting the best candidate, they’ve decided to go for round two and protect Biden, with a ridiculous Hail Mary play at impeachment.
When that falls over they’ll look back and realise they’ve wasted four years chasing their tails rather then trying to beat Trump.
But I don’t actually believe the Democrats have been trying to beat trump, their goal is to humiliate the socialist policies thatve crept into the American conversation.

Spose we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m leaning towards Bernie because he’s going to try and radically change the US system. Medicare for all, tax billionaires more (I agree that there should not be billionaires), abolishment of student debt by taxing Wall Street speculation, he’s anti war. He’s all about addressing climate change, he’s not owned by investors. He’s got a massive base too. Only problem is his age but he’s only a little bit older then Trump.

How Americans see that and don’t want change crazy.

He doesn’t have the evangelical vote because they literally only vote for who they think will bring on the rapture. That’s why they vote for Trump.

Agree. Lol. Trump is like one of those Marvel characters - the more crap you throw at him, the stronger he gets. If he was left to his own devices he’d quite possibly self-destruct. The fact is it’s his “time”. The Dems are in the same situation as Labour in GB and, to a lesser extent, the ALP here. We’re really right back to the late seventies, early eighties in a way. The “Third Way” got too self-satisfied and imploded. They can only blame themselves.

I think it's both. They obviously want to win and beat Trump, as well as dampen the socialist democrat wing of the Democrat party.

The Democrats have always struggled with internal battles in regards to the socialist v moderate stuff. Factionalism is just a part of politics. We had our own similar divisions with the Democratic Labor Party and the Labor Party during the Evatt years. We are even seeing it even now, with Albanese trying to increasingly separate himself from the Greens.

I must admit though, it appears to me that the left moderates are increasingly less tolerant of the extreme left-leaning elements than what they used to be. But maybe that's just fanciful thinking on my part.

The Internet always provides. I saw this today 🤣

This is still my favourite edit, although oogac's (BF) work with videos and gifs is the work of the gods.

When you’ve got Dr Jill Stein having to defend herself as not being a Russian agent because democrats are openly accusing her.
I think you’re on the money they’re becoming less tolerant, I’d even go one step further as openly combative, to the point of being destructive to their own party.

So it raises the question, are they completely non self aware, or is it a well taught out political move?

Being as objective as I can be (given I have my own personal bias to the left) - the “middle” has shifted to the right. That means, unfortunately for the Dems/Labour/Greens, etc. (maybe, people of my ilk), if they want to get re-elected, they’re going to have to shift their “centre” slightly right. That’s what Blair and Clinton did to good effect but, as I said previously, they sat on their laurels. They did nothing for the people at the bottom - unforgivable for people who purport to be of the left.
