What’s up with the people claiming racism over stopping Chinese people flying to their countries because of coronavirus? Never heard of quarantine before?

They're called.............morons. Very dangerous.

They are growing in number and are more infectious than coronavirus.

This the thing, Green vote is rising in Lib seats.

The much anticipated inner city sweep that was meant to follow Bandt winning Melbourne didn't happen.

But their vote is going up in well off Lib seats is rising quickly - Prahran, Higgins, Kooyong.

And all the independent types taking Lib and Nat seats are fully signed up on climate change, that's why they're winning them.
Topical response from a latte sipping greeny.. :p

Ha, I watched this the other night. Gold.

They were feeling a bit sorry for her as the night wore on, right up until the point where she delivered her speech.

A couple of highlights....

"East London is fairly shitty at the best of times. 82% Muslim - what can I say? Those people are raping their own mother."

...or this somewhat baffling gem.....

"Epileptics are all weirdos - they're up there with the Asians."

Needless to say, thoroughly deserved award.

The campaigner to unify a nation.

Hey I’m so woke that I let a person with coronavirus stay at my house because they identified as healthy....fu** off

That sounds like the sort of thing people would say to discredit calling out racism.

I'll bet it didn't happen.

Or if someone said something like that it was a fake account.

No quite catching your drift there DR.

If the Bat is infected, then what would immunosuppression achieve?
China’s technological/Intellectual edge is all smoke and mirrors. theyre paying big money for medical breakthroughs. Which is leading to cowboy behaviour.
so the story goes some genius was trying to develop immunity, to a disease that hasn’t jumped yet. As bats are known carriers. He started messing around with the bats immunity. Which then in turn created the jump. Because of poor lab standards, it was released into the wild and there’s been blowback.

we might see outbreaks of other diseases around the same area because of lax standards.

Mate are you having a laugh? If you’re on Twitter enter ‘coronavirus racist’ into search and you’ll see what I’m on about

I'm not on Twitter.

But how many of those accounts do you reckon are real?

...

Tried to find stuff and what I've found has nothing to do with saying the quarantine is racist.

Lots of people saying racist stuff about east Asians tho.

I'm not buying that mate.

China is probably the most science dynamic country on the planet.

Please, the worlds technology is based on silicon and semi conductors, and China doesn’t even have a big Player in the game.

and it’s not just the chips but what’s encrypted on them to make them work, that Xilinx and co keep very closely guarded secret.

But that’s a side note to what we were discussing and I’ve said before, I’d really like your input on the topic.. not my area of expertise but from what I reading it’s looking likely that the coronavirus might’ve come out of a lab. Even if it were good intensions.

Did you manage to read the link previous? What are your thoughts?

I flicked over it.

Your paper relates to Chinese researchers tweaking cytokines in order to activate immune responses that would lower viral infections.

I don't see any correlation to man made corona-virus.

sweet, as I said not my area of expertise but here’s a couple more papers from the same group of researchers. Plus an excerpt from the Wuhan institute of virology. Which is close to the epicentre of the outbreak.

I'm no expert either mate, but I can't see anything solid supporting an engineered coronavirus from these papers.

Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, China. Abstract

SARS-like coronavirus (SL-CoV) in bats have a similar genomic organization to the human SARS-CoV. Their cognate gene products are highly conserved with the exception of the N-terminal region of the S proteins, which have only 63-64% sequence identity. The N-terminal region of coronavirus S protein is responsible for virus-receptor interaction. In this study, the immunogenicity of the SL-CoV S protein (S(SL)) was studied and compared with that of SARS-CoV (S(SARS)). DNA immunization in mice with S(SL) elicited a high titer of antibodies against HIV-pseudotyped S(SL). The sera had low cross-reactivity, but no neutralization activity, for the HIV-pseudotyped S(SARS). Studies using wild bat sera revealed that it is highly likely that the immunodominant epitopes overlap with the major neutralizing sites of the SL-CoV S protein. These results demonstrated that SL-CoV and SARS-CoV shared only a limited number of immunogenic epitopes in their S proteins and the major neutralization epitopes are substantially different. This work provides useful information for future development of differential serologic diagnosis and vaccines for coronaviruses with different S protein sequences.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) from raccoon dog can serve as an efficient receptor for the spike protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus.

Abstract

Raccoon dog is one of the suspected intermediate hosts of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV). In this study, the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) gene of raccoon dog (rdACE2) was cloned and sequenced. The amino acid sequence of rdACE2 has identities of 99.3, 89.2, 83.9 and 80.4 % to ACE2 proteins from dog, masked palm civet (pcACE2), human (huACE2) and bat, respectively. There are six amino acid changes in rdACE2 compared with huACE2, and four changes compared with pcACE2, within the 18 residues of ACE2 known to make direct contact with the SARS-CoV S protein. A HeLa cell line stably expressing rdACE2 was established; Western blot analyses and an enzyme-activity assay indicated that the cell line expressed ACE2 at a similar level to two previously established cell lines that express ACE2 from human and masked palm civet, respectively. Human immunodeficiency virus-backboned pseudoviruses expressing spike proteins derived from human SARS-CoV or SARS-CoV-like viruses of masked palm civets and raccoon dogs were tested for their entry efficiency into these cell lines. The results showed that rdACE2 is a more efficient receptor for human SARS-CoV, but not for SARS-CoV-like viruses of masked palm civets and raccoon dogs, than huACE2 or pcACE2. This study provides useful data to elucidate the role of raccoon dog in SARS outbreaks.

The similarities of the UK studies into creutzfeltz-jakob disease, mad cow and an outbreak at the epicentre are eerily similar.

.............yyyyyeah..............and?

Has this conversation moved elsewhere or are you still intimating human engineering?

How does it possibly make any sense to allow a CONVICTED Terrorist out on bail to commit random atrocities ?

Because you can't lock people up for life for most offences?

The Brits also let the worst "terrorists" they've ever experienced like Gerry Kelly out, and that's worked.

The only way the Brits can avoid continued jihadi terror is by going back to about 1530 and undoing their imperialism.

Also, have a read about the bloke who suicide bombed the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

That'll give you an idea of how the Brits play both sides of the fence on this stuff.

I reckon if you do a lot of political twittering then you'll be exposed to a lot of that sort of propaganda. I'm not saying there aren't some idiots that think that way but so many of these things turn out to be bullshit when they get picked apart.
