Joe Hildebrand talks about Albanese recovering those working class roots, but I don’t see how as long as they have the greens attached to them.

It sucks, because I can have reasonable political conversations with centrists and moderates, but the extremes have effectively moved away from objectivity and rational discourse. My grandparents were proper unionists and socialists and I had great conversations with them on every topic. I believe that’s changed.

Perhaps I am overstating things.

Please, I converse with you and other left-leaning people of all types in this thread, twitter and in real life all the time, not to mention the continued exposure to literature on post-modernism, communism, fascism and everything in between. Confirmation bias is a non-issue. The lack of rational discourse (historical fallacies, false equivalences and ahistorical parallels) by some is an issue.


We'll see about yesterday people, experts have been threatening the demise of centrists since the 1920s (you can probably go back even further), yet they still determine election after election in the west. Even looking at the modern ALP, centrism has largely won out from the social-democrat types of yesteryear. We don't see as many Chifley's or Whitlam's from the ALP.
