What if he had a medical episode, heart attack or something similar?
the whole thing is a tragic accident.

The truckie was not injured in the crash, but blacked out from shock after the accident.

I wonder if he had a dash cam or if there were cameras near by. The reason for him move into stopping lane will be crucial. He must’ve been caught off guard. They’d be checking his phone too I’d imagine.
According to the TV news he drifted across 3 lanes. Not a sudden thing. Interesting - much more to come as to what went wrong inside that truck.

Were the speeding driver's "photos" actually dashcam images?

AS for the truck driver, he's going to need some story.

Point is, we don’t know what happened to cause the accident, casting dispersion is probably not helpful for those involved.

All we do know is, it’s a tragic accident. Feel for the families and friends.

Was the accident scene near a left turn off?

Casting aspersions ...

Only that's not what it is anyway. The conversation is around how the evidence points to gross negligence of the truckie. A tragic accident and no malice intended, sure, but avoidable.

The truckie is in strife:

Until we know what happened in that cabin, we can’t say gross negligence.

If you can get someone out of plowing in to a stationary vehicle in the stopping lane at 100km/h, then I am going to put you on a permanent life time retainer.

Not before impact.

The highway car was hit clear to the other side of the freeway (four lanes plus the shoulder), then impact with the unmarked, then the Porsche.

In legal circles they call this "****ed".

He'd better pack a couple of hundred toothbrushes, and if he had anything in his system, goodbye to 20-25 years.

No criminal record, decent driving record, no skid marks?

If he had a medical episode and blacked out he is not culpable.

If that's the case then the criminal record isn't a factor. In fact, it's no factor anyway until sentencing, and only really impact if the previous crimes are related.

The crash appeared to wake him up out of his "episode".

Again, I would like to know if the accident occurred near a left turn off.

It wasn’t.

It was between Bourke Rd and Chandler Hwy.

Then what was he doing in the stopping lane?

He'll be praying that there's medical evidence to support his "lapse".

The scant available evidence suggests this wasn't the case:
