Body-cam footage has been released that shows Masai Ujiri was not the aggressor in last year's post-match incident after the Raptors won the NBA finals. A sheriff's deputy approached him as he tried to enter the court and shoved him twice while Ujiri was trying to show him identification. There was also no blow to the head, despite the cop claiming to have been concussed.

Excellent statement from Masai. He's conducted himself with absolute grace through this, and is one of the most articulate voices out there. Good to see the truth is coming out. Just sad that it had to dampen the night. Go Raptors.

"Thank you to everybody who has expressed disappointment and concern regarding the video that was recently released. My family and I are deeply grateful for your care and consideration.

The video sadly demonstrates how horribly I was treated by a law enforcement officer last year in the midst of my team, the Toronto Raptors, winning its first world championship. It was an exhilarating moment of achievement for our organization, for our players, for our city, for our country, and for me personally, given my long-tenured professional journey in the NBA. Yet, unfortunately, I was reminded in that moment that despite all of my hard work and success, there are some people, including those who are supposed to protect us, who will always and only see me as something that is unworthy of respectful engagement. And, there’s only one indisputable reason why that is the case - because I am Black.

What saddens me most about this ordeal is that the only reason why I am getting the justice I deserve in this moment is because of my success. Because I’m the President of a NBA team, I had access to resources that ensured I could demand and fight for my justice. So many of my brothers and sisters haven’t had, don’t have, and won’t have the same access to resources that assured my justice. And that’s why Black Lives Matter.

And that’s why it’s important for all of us to keep demanding justice. Justice for George. Justice for Breonna. Justice for Elijah. Justice for far too many Black lives that mattered. And justice for Black people around the world, who need our voice and our compassion to save their lives.

Those are the ties that bind us.

With love and determination,

Masai Ujiri

So do you have a problem with Ujiri's comment?
anyone trying to reduce the number of factors that contributed to a phenomenon down to one, and then going a step further and declaring that one factors contribution indisputable, has lost my respect.

That cops a bitch. Not only did he **** with the wrong dude, but when he realised who he was he thought he’d get paid. That bitch cop will be a security guard at Walmart if he’s lucky after this. Gold. Another red neck down the drain.

I imagine the nuffy cop thinking ‘but I’m a sheriff. I’m the law’. So adorable. Imagine how many people he’s gone on a power trip on over the years for speeding or jaywalking or something stupid like that. The worst of the worst

Only it wasn't a "phenomenon". It was a single incident. And that incident was down to one factor. Pretty indisputable, IMO, but feel free to tell us the myriad reasons underlying supercop's inappropriate treatment of a black man who (to his detriment, LOL) he didn't recognise.

Imagine a security guard doing that to an AFL president after a Grand final win? Christ, they’d never live it down. People got the shits when the security at the footy were walking the aisles. Now imagine security pushing the president of the wining team as they go to congratulate the players. Madness

That's not an example of how a fully formed adult should post.

Was reading that golden state serial killer may be getting sent to San Quentin prison . My best mates fiancé was a psychologist on death row there and we managed to get a private tour of the entire prison one night , including the dining hall , yard and execution chamber . We were even shown through the prison cells of some of the low level offenders and saw the confiscated weapons . Certainly felt the sense of evil in there . Me and my mate asked the guard taking us around on the 2 hour tour every single possible question you could imagine from the life the prisoners had in there . Was one of the most amazing experiences of my life

There’s a podcast called ear hustle made by some inmates in San Quentin that’s a pretty interesting listen. It’s come along way in terms of its violent history.

If you are into podcasts and you haven’t yet listened to Casefiles series on GSK/The original night stalker. Check it out. Probably the most chilling podcast I’ve ever listened to. Evil man.

On the topic of good sh*t good, im a fan of Iskenders. Your regular fare grilled meat and yoghurt. At the bottom are strips of turkish bread. You can imagine what happens to them with chicken and lamb from the sitting on top of them.

My missus used to waitress at a Turkish restaurant, back in the day.

Used to come home with food every night. Iskenders were my favorite, close 2nd were the wood fired lamb pizzas.

Victorian Labor is debating for the first time in 10 years who should replace Daniel Andrews as leader, after the state’s tumultuous battle with the coronavirus pandemic
.
Powerbrokers are openly discussing the Victorian Premier’s future, with expectations that he will quit the job well ahead of the next election — due in 2022 — to enable his successor to mount their campaign.

Mr Andrews is now unlikely to be given the opportunity to anoint his successor, as the broad Right and Left factions debate whether to elevate Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan to the leadership.

A recent decision by key MPs linked to the old National Union of Workers to remain in the Right caucus will be central to any leadership ballot.

Ms Allan will face significant pressure from sections of the Right and within the Socialist Left who are opposed to her being handed the job, opening up the possibility of Labor having to find a compromise candidate in the form of Attorney-General Jill Hennessy.
