Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka has pulled out of a major tennis tournament in New York in a protest over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

"As a black woman I feel as though there are much more important matters at hand that need immediate attention, rather than watching me play tennis," Osaka wrote on Twitter.

The ATP tournament has now been suspended for Thursday.

Mr Blake, who was black and unarmed, was shot in the back by police.

His shooting on Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, sparked a wave of protests, some of which have turned violent, and a growing boycott by sports stars.

Protests have also spread to a number of other US cities, including Portland, Oregon and in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the police killing of unarmed black man George Floyd in May sparked Black Lives Matter protests across the US and globally.

Organisers of the WTA Western & Southern Open in New York have said the tournament will be suspended until Friday.

"As a sport, tennis is collectively taking a stance against racial inequality and social injustice that once again has been thrust to the forefront in the United States," the statement said.

Most of you would be familiar with Jocko Willink. He talked about how little training the cops actually recently on JRE, it was actually ridiculous how little extra training they do. He thinks that a minimum of 1/5th of their shift should be spent on training like de-escalation, hand to hand combat etc. It would go along way to helping solve the problem instead of just pulling out their sidearm every single time to try and gain control. It basically leaves them nowhere to go except shoot if the person still doesn’t comply.

Minneapolis has been rioting because an accused murderer the cops were chasing killed himself. People thought the cops shot him so riots started. Cops had to release vision on twitter of him blowing his own head off to try and stop the looting.

I really dont think either result at the polls will make a lot of difference. The US is a very polarised society atm. I cant see many of them moving to the middle for a very long time if ever. A mate of mine moved over there about 7 years ago and used to me pretty balanced. Hes rusted on trump now almost fanatic.
