Well it’s true. The standards that apply to posters here are high yet we see day after day of this blatant rip-offs

This place exists to sell advertising & subscriptions. It 's the business idea of a non Victorian who has a slight passing interest in AFL football.

The only difference between this place and other AFL media, is that we provided the data.

It’s the most dangerous place I’ve ever visited in my life. I’m a huge fan of the tv series the wire so a mate and I decided to add it to the list of must see places while we were in the US. Managed to get a lift into West Baltimore where the show was filmed . F*k me don’t know how we got out alive 😬
Not even close to be related, but in 93 I found myself working on a Moshav in Israel. Anyway, 1 night after plenty of amber nectar in the local pub - 2 Atco huts put together - I was walking home and found myself face to face with 3 Thai fellas under a street light. 1 fella was flicking a butterfly knife and I casually, lol, veered to the other side of the road. Said knife wielder stepped in front of me, I stopped, then 1o f the other Thai fellas said something, then knife boy got out of my way and the other fella said - "we're not after you", and off I went. The next day a lovely Thai woman brought me a duck as a way of apology for the night before. Turns out the fella of the Thai couple I was working with was nephew of the Don of the Thai mafia in Israel, or whatever they are called.

Think they are called " Tom Yum "

in light of the topic at hand, a tidbit of how news is run and funded, coming from the Columbia Journalism Review.

That is a very in depth piece.

Did you know the CJR receives funding from Soros' Open Society Foundation?

Speaking of powerful wealthy interests .....

And I don't buy into this "Soros is an evil mastermind implementing the Protocols of the Elders of Zion" bullshit that the neo nazis push these days. Private wealth funds nearly everything these days.

That's why I struggle to take Tefs corporate libertarianism seriously. It's what we have been living with for the best part of fifty years.

A caravan of vehicles full of Trump supporters descended on Portland last night and left one person killed. Trump, who has shown no previous sympathy for any of the victims of police shootings that have fueled the over 25 million people protesting to date since the killing of George Floyd, and who has repeatedly referred to peaceful protesters as "thugs", tear gassed them for photo ops, and used national security forces to create violence, is now affronted by the death of one of his supporters at a rally that saw hundreds of them show up in oversized 4x4 trucks to pit themselves against people on foot.

Portland's Mayor has been telling Trump for the better part of 3 months to keep the National Guard out of Portland so that the protests that have taken place every night there since the killing of George Floyd can continue peacefully. He held a press conference this morning, expressing, among other things, his condolences for the person who was killed. He said a few things about Trump too.

Mayor Ted Wheeler:

"Yesterday's events began with hundreds of cars filled with supporters of the President rallying in Clackamas County and then driving through downtown Portland. They were supported and energised by the President himself.

President Trump, for four years we've had to live with you and your racist attacks on Black people. We learned early about your sexist attitudes towards women. We've had to endure clips of you mocking a disabled man. We've had to listen to your anti-democratic attacks on journalists. We've read your tweets slamming private citizens to the point of receiving death threats, and we've listened to your attacks on immigrants. We've listened to you label Mexicans "rapists". We've heard you say that John McCain wasn't a hero because he was a prisoner of war. And now, you're attacking democratic Mayors, and the very institutions of democracy that have served this nation well since its founding.

Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence? It's you who has created the hate and the division. It's you who has not found a way to say the names of Black people who have been killed by police officers, even as people in law enforcement have. And it's you who claimed that white supremacists are "good people". Your campaign of fear is as anti-democratic as anything you've done to create hate and vitriol in our beautiful country. You've tried to divide us, more than any other figure in modern history, and now you want me to stop the violence that you helped create.

What America needs is for you to be stopped. So that we can come back together as one America, while recognising that we must demand that all people - Black, brown, white - every colour, from every political persuasion pull together and hold all people accountable in stopping racism and violence, and we together are peaceful again, under new leadership that reflects who we really are. We the people, of this great nation.

President Trump, you bring no peace. You bring no respect for our democracy. You, Mr. President, need to do your job as the leader of this nation. And I, Mr. President, will do my job as the Mayor of this city. And we will both be held accountable, as we should.

......"We want to protest powerfully, and peacefully. We believe that Black lives matter. And, we believe that it's the responsibility of our leaders to ensure that the systems that we have in place to protect and serve do so equitably.

Let's engage with each other in thoughtful dialogue about reform, and use the power of our shared values to move forward together. We must recommit our energy and our resources toward advancing the work of reform, and the transformation of our systems. We've seen the positive power of collective, and focused, and non-violent action. We've seen the change. Our responsibility to each other is to keep moving forward."

Kudos to the Mayor of Portland.

They are also funded the rockafella foundation, their fairly open about who funds them but it still gets into all sorts of conspiracy people heads. But it’s also the point of it, none of these places would exist without funding because the people don’t buy news anymore.

What’s that old saying you never pick a fight by people who by ink by the barrel.

It’s almost like the Major has forgotten about America’s history..

I still remember the LA riots when Lakers won a championship. In a time honoured tradition of your team winning means you score free stuff.

And they're very convincing............

............about getting re-elected.

Apparently this incredibly obvious fact escapes some people.
