trickle down absolutely works.. we’ve just been concentrating on the wrong thing, instead of crying poor me, join a group and eat the rich..
this was the guy that identified the big sqeeeze 6 months ago..

Burry is a mathematician.

You can trust him.

Its one thing that has shat me about the LNP. All their talk was about small businesses when I was younger but they've done very little to keep small business functioning. These days big corporates are so big that any successful small business gets targeted after a certain point.

And in that sense not all large corporations are bad but large financial ones are dodgy as. The way they create financial products and then sell them back and forth increasing their "wealth" on the back of moving paper or numbers in accounts is flat out f’ed. Its not wellth as in society gets well or healthy, its wealth as in it leaves weals behind. Unlike Ford or GM, or even Hollywood businesses, they didn't build their position on the back of innovation, creating physical products (or even experiences for people) that made human life better or even just more bearable. Even generic "evils" like "Big Pharma" have that basic idea as their tree of raisins...

They sell products humans use to improve their quality of life.

I am the strangest socialist ever but my take is that small businesses themselves are often predatory, just projected downward onto workers.

A lot of the 'protections' they ask for are really just attempts to coerce the government into allowing them to drive labour costs down, because there's no chance they compete with the big boys on research and development, productivity, etc.

They also use pretty powerful lobby groups (e.g. small business councils) to leverage politicians into making laws that actually negatively affect a lot of people but which allow their business to stay afloat. See the federal gov forcing workers back to the office (even though the future suggests we need to pivot far more to remote working) to help keep the foot traffic alive for CBD businesses.

I'm also strongly opposed to keeping inefficient businesses alive artificially through regulation.

But I absolutely believe that any small business owner who loses their business should have re-skilling opportunities and a humane social security system to fall back on. I don't believe the government owes anyone's inefficient businesses to stay competitive but I do believe that they have an obligation to provide a standard of living for people who are victims of the market (whether they be small businesses or not).

I don't think the anti LNP comment here is on the mark. What do you think Workchoices and the constant IR reform they push is about? The importation of labour for farms? The bonding of labourers to their employers via visa? The dedicated resources and probably billions of dollars thrown at trying to help predatory small businesses comply with legal frameworks and survive, where a big business would otherwise have the book thrown at them?

I say this as someone who wound up my small business in 2020 - they get cut a lot of slack in this country. They're dying out in many legacy industries because they're uncompetitive. Customers like brand recognition, efficiency, and price. It's an unpopular opinion but meh.

Good day to drop some unpalatable news, the blame for the nursing home crisis sits at Cuomos feet, and the death rate is about 50% higher..

Anyone doing dodgy sh*t gone. Still can’t believe how brazen they are. They think they’re above the law and everyone is about to find out if they’re right.
You’ve got a country that doesn’t trust the media, elections, stock market, department of justice.. am I missing anyone?
the current pres has been in government for 44 years, and amassed a billion dollar fortune, whos son and brother are embroiled in corruption scandals related to his time in office.
they are heavily militarised population that trusts the rank and file of the arm forces.. what could possibly go wrong.

On the other hand if they do the right thing confidence lifts.

Don’t know if it’s because I’ve been stuck at home this week so I’ve been on social media more, but this really feels like a massive moment to me.

Isn't Biden worth around $10 million US, with most of that from book deals post VP role and speaking engagements?

What do you expect when governments never penalise anyone and just bail them out?

There's different applications of the law throughout all western countries. Those in power & their minions, and those who are not.

I have a strange feeling that people won’t cop it sweet this time. It just feels like everyone is watching

Does this mean they have to make his Emmy 50% larger?

Well an interesting day in the Chop premises.

Got my Billiard table remarked and it's come up a dream - I was worried he might muck it up as only being doing it for 50 years so a tad inexperienced.........ha

Secondly it was sold as Tasmanian Blackwood in 1985 however it's a Myrtle combination so a cool rare beast!!

Thirdly and most importantly I only ever use my Granddads cue he left me in his will about 20 years ago as he knew I loved Billiards as he did at his local Launceston bowls club.

The gentleman took one look and said it's a Duffron Canadian made Maple cue of about 1970 or so! Said an absolute gem so was bloody stoked!!

Anyway, thanks for reading as a very exciting day. (for me at least)

If their government comes out and actually does something about this it would be a huge win for the new regime.

Biden and the Wall Street Democrat crew he's got around aren't on our side here.

BTW the gentleman with walking stick charged me $40 cash despite driving 20mins, spent over half an hour and did a professional job.

Not bragging at all, far from it, but it simply felt wrong so cheap, hence I paid him more and he was really grateful which made me feel good too.

I think it is.

Maybe not massive but definitely a moment. Its proof this sort of shit is doable, its just a matter of working out how to do it without too much collatoral damage... so to speak.

Elon Musk tweeted before that it was “In hindsight it was only a matter of time”

He’s probably right.

The people running the show can never keep up as technology develops. They didn’t see it coming but looking online there’s people that did.

The only reason this worked though is because of the ridiculous degree to which GameStop was shorted. And while it's a common practise it's not *that* common to go quite so balls deep.

Odds are the government will change the regulations so they don't have to report their shortselling (oh no, you can't target individual firms like that, it's so mean and nasty!!), thus hiding potential targets, or firms will be much more circumspect about trying to destroy other companies (which would be a pleasant surprise).

I really don't have particularly high hopes that this will change the power balance at all.
